Bronny James on Becoming More Comfortable Shooting
In a recent interview with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Bronny James shared that he is becoming more comfortable shooting the ball after getting more reps in NBA and G League games this past week.
“I’ve gotten more and more reps being comfortable shooting behind the NBA line,” Bronny said to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “Gotten more and more comfortable for me to just shoot it without thinking. Nothing much to it but just getting reps in and keeping at it and keeping working on my game.”
After Wednesday’s win against the Indiana Pacers, the 21-year-old guard received praise from Lakers head coach JJ Redick.
“He’s gotten significantly better. Our staff has a lot of confidence in him. Felt like this was a game where we really needed him,” said Redick.
Trudell noted that Redick cited James’ “defense, athleticism, and increased confidence in his shot.”
Before the Lakers’ season, Bronny received praise from Austin Reaves for his preseason play.
“He’s been good,” Reaves said. “Obviously, he didn’t shoot the ball as well as he wanted to the first game. I don’t think he took bad shots, all his shots were good. They all looked good. Like he said, some of them hit front rim, maybe due to JJ running us (laughs). I don’t mean that, JJ.
“He’s become a really good player. We went golfing the other day and that was the first thing I told him. We were driving down to the fairway on hole one and I was like, ‘I just need to let you know that in preseason and even before that, you’ve been one of the better players out on the floor almost every day.’ Just continue to do that. He’s a good kid, has a good head on his shoulders, is all about the right stuff and just wants to compete and get better, so shout out to him.”
LeBron and Bronny James Make NBA History Again
On Friday, during the Lakers and Nets game, LeBron and Bronny James became the first-ever father and son to record an NBA assist. Two Nets defenders double-teamed LeBron at the top of the key, and he dished to Bronny, who hit a wide-open 3. The Lakers went on to beat the Nets 116-99 at Crypto.com Arena.
After the game, LeBron was asked about the history-making feat with his son, Bronny.
“Not taking it for granted, just being in the moment of us being on the floor once again,” LeBron said. “That’s two games back-to-back playing meaningful minutes and him, also, making another play. … I got doubled, and he was able to fake the pass to the corner and then knock down the 3. Definitely a cool moment for us and also for our family.”
Bronny continues to find his rhythm in the G League, and his historic moments alongside LeBron prove this father-son duo is just getting started.
