Anthony Edwards Makes Feelings Clear on Tyrese Maxey After Getting Posterized, Stared Down by 76ers Star

Anthony Edwards provided his thoughts on Tyrese Maxey dunking on him during the Timberwolves' loss to the 76ers on Feb. 22.

Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Maxey went viral on social media when the latter pulled off a ridiculous poster dunk during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 22.

Shortly after the game, Edwards provided his thoughts on what it was like to be on the other end of the poster highlight.

The incredible highlight took place midway through the third quarter of the Timberwolves’ clash with the 76ers. Minnesota committed a turnover as Maxey went on the fastbreak. He gained possession of the ball as he made his way to the paint.

It was at that moment that he leapt in the air to throw down the dunk with his left hand. Edwards was in the restricted area as he attempted to stop the dunk attempt. However, he was unsuccessful as the Minnesota crowd saw its franchise star on the other end of a poster dunk, something they are used to seeing him do. On top of that, Maxey capped off the highlight by staring him down.

Edwards provided his thoughts on the poster dunk after the game, via reporter Andrew Dukowitz. He had high remarks for the 76ers’ star guard, describing Maxey as incredible while stating he is not a fan of getting posterized in that fashion.

“He’s incredible man, he already know he’s one of my favorite players to watch in the league. He dunked on me today too, I don’t really like that(laughs)… I didn’t know he was going downhill, I just ended up turning my head. I’m thinking he was going to lay it up then he went and punched it,” Edwards said.

What’s Next on the Schedule for Edwards and the Timberwolves

It’s clear that Edwards would prefer to avoid getting posterized, even by the likes of Tyrese Maxey. What will matter more to the Timberwolves star is winning, something they failed to do in the 135-108 loss to Maxey and the 76ers.

Minnesota has a 35-23 record on the season, holding the sixth spot in the Western Conference standings. They are above the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors while trailing the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets.

Following Sunday’s loss to the 76ers, the Timberwolves will look to bounce back in their next matchup. They will be on the road when they face the Portland Trail Blazers on Feb. 24 at 10 p.m. ET.
