NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles has arrived, and the Rising Stars game is tasked with setting the tone. One of the most popular events of the weekend, the Rising Stars game is a showcase of the league’s top young players.
Many of the All-Stars playing in the big game at the end of the weekend, as well as multiple Hall of Famers, often attend the game to observe the league’s future. This year’s game includes several future All-Stars and potential superstars.
NBA Rising Stars Rosters With Legendary Coaches
The NBA released the official rosters, including three teams coached by Hall of Famers and a fourth team mostly composed of top G League players. The teams were selected through a draft.
Team Melo
The NBA announced “Carmelo Anthony will serve as honorary coach,” and his team appears to be the favorite on paper. The Ten-Time All-Star has a stacked roster.
- Reed Sheppard – Houston Rockets
- Stephon Castle – San Antonio Spurs
- Dylan Harper – San Antonio Spurs
- Jeremiah Fears – New Orleans Pelicans
- Donovan Clingan – Portland Trail Blazers
- Collin Murray-Boyles – Toronto Raptors
- Ace Bailey – Utah Jazz
- Cooper Flagg – Dallas Mavericks
Anthony’s team includes multiple players who are earning playing time for contenders in Castle, Shepherd, Harper, and Murray-Boyles. There was a lot of excitement to watch Flagg, the first overall pick in last summer’s draft; however, he will not participate after suffering a left mid-foot sprain.
Team T-Mac
The NBA announced “Tracy McGrady will serve as honorary coach”, and the seven-time All-Star has an intriguing roster of shooting.
- Kon Knueppel – Charlotte Hornets
- Kel’el Ware – Miami Heat
- Tre Johnson – Washington Wizards
- Jaylon Tyson – Cleveland Cavaliers
- Zaccharie Risacher – Atlanta Hawks
- Cam Spencer – Memphis Grizzlies
- Bub Carrington – Washington Wizards
- Alex Sarr – Washington Wizards
- Ajay Mitchell – Oklahoma City Thunder
McGrady had the opportunity to pair Risacher and Sarr, the first two picks in the 2024 NBA Draft, together, but Sarr is out with a hamstring strain. Risacher will share the spotlight with Knueppel, an already elite shooter, and Johnson.
Team Vince
The NBA announced that “Vince Carter will serve as honorary coach,” and the eight-time All-Star will lead a diverse team.
- VJ Edgecombe – Philadelphia 76ers
- Derik Queen – New Orleans Pelicans
- Kyshawn George – Washington Wizards
- Matas Buzelis – Chicago Bulls
- Egor Demin – Brooklyn Nets
- Cedric Coward – Memphis Grizzlies
- Jaylen Wells – Memphis Grizzlies
- Carter Bryant – San Antonio Spurs
Edgecombe could make a run at MVP honors in this game, while Demin and Queen are intriguing playmakers. Look for Buzelis to throw down a few huge dunks.

Team Austin
The NBA announced “Austin Rivers will serve as honorary coach,” and the retired 11-year veteran will lead many of the top G League players.
- Sean East II – Salt Lake City Stars
- Ron Harper Jr. – Maine Celtics
- Yanic Konan Niederhäuser – Los Angeles Clippers
- Alijah Martin – Raptors 905
- Tristen Newton – Rio Grande Valley Vipers
- Yang Hansen – Portland Trail Blazers
- Jahmir Young – Sioux Falls Skyforce
- Mac McClung – Windy City Bulls
- David Jones Garcia – Austin Spurs
There was a lot of excitement around watching McClung, especially since he decided not to participate in the dunk contest, but he’ll miss the entire weekend now after suffering a calf injury. High-scoring guards Young and Newton lead the way, along with Hansen.
The four teams will face off in two semifinals, with the two winners playing for the championship.
