Saturday night football at Lambeau Field has always been a little bit different. The cold, the crowd, and the history of the place add extra weight to every game. Week 17 is just the same, as the Green Bay Packers host the Baltimore Ravens with playoff positioning still very much in play.
Before the game, fans at Lambeau and the national audience will be treated to an incredible pregame performance as singer and television personality Azah Awasum performs the national anthem.
Get to Know the National Anthem Performer at the Ravens-Packers Game
Azah Awasum will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the start of the game. Awasum, who is from Baltimore, Maryland, has gradually gained popularity through a combination of television, music, and advocacy.
Awasum gained popularity nationally as a participant in “Big Brother 23.” It is from this program that she emerged as a brilliant, calm, and socially aware contestant. It’s through television that most people became familiar with Awasum. However, she does not have any major association with the television industry.
Before appearing on “Big Brother,” Awasum studied biomedical engineering, a degree that best embodies her educational background and interest in science and innovation. This has become an integral part of her public persona, distinguishing her as a multifaceted figure who seamlessly blends analytical thinking with creativity.
Since her days on reality TV shows, she has leaned into music and public speaking. According to realitytea.com, she also advocates for education, empowerment, and self-confidence.
The anthem performance will follow a pregame on-field recognition of U.S. Army veteran Adam Pierce as part of Operation Fan Mail, presented by Network Health, continuing the Packers’ tradition of honoring service members during home games.
Ravens-Packers Preview
There is quite a lot on the line in a particular game, especially for the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens come in at 7-8 and have quietly won four straight games on the road, but they are out of any wiggle room.
They must win to stay alive in the playoffs, and even then, they’ll be keeping an eye on Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers-Cleveland Browns game. If the Ravens lose, that’s it, they’re out, and it would be their first losing season since 2021.
Both of these teams are also dealing with big questions at quarterback. Lamar Jackson is listed as doubtful and has been inactive for practice this week due to issues with his back, so Tyler Huntley is likely to get the start if Lamar can’t go.
On the other side, Green Bay won’t have Jordan Love, who’s out with a shoulder injury and concussion. Backup Malik Willis is still questionable after being limited in practice.
The Packers, though, are in a much more comfortable position. With a recent Detroit Lions loss, Green Bay has already locked up a playoff berth. At 9-5-1, they are still very much in the mix for the NFC North, as long as they keep winning and get a little help from the Chicago Bears.
