In today’s fast-moving digital age—where technology evolves by the minute—even NASCAR royalty isn’t safe from the dark side of artificial intelligence.
Kelley Earnhardt Miller, longtime business partner of Dale Earnhardt Jr. (and his older sister), was recently left shocked after discovering an AI-generated hoax that falsely portrayed her brother in a completely fabricated story that quickly spread online.
Big Sister to the Rescue: Kelley Earnhardt Defends Dale Earnhardt Jr. Amid AI-Created Fake Story
A completely made-up story recently surfaced on social media, falsely claiming that Dale Earnhardt Jr. had adopted twin boys eight years ago on a cold winter night. The tale, posted by a Facebook page called Racing Rivals Updates, painted it as the beginning of a heartwarming journey full of love and sacrifice.
The post even included a collage of AI-generated images of the NASCAR star. One line from the post read:
“8 Years Ago, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Rescued Abandoned Twin Boys—16 Years Later, They Returned as a Shocking Surprise!
“Dale Earnhardt, he is one of the most famous NASCAR drivers of all time. But when he unexpectedly discovered two abandoned newborn boys on a cold winter night, he faced the greatest challenge of his life—a fateful moment that would change his destiny forever. What followed was a journey of love, sacrifice, and redemption—more meaningful than any award he could have won…”
It didn’t take long for Erin Marks, the wife of Justin Marks (Earnhardt Jr.’s CARS Tour partner and Trackhouse Racing co-owner), to call out the fake story. She reposted it with a screenshot on X, sarcastically writing:
The only reason I really keep my fb account is for these amazing articles! So informative! 😂 pic.twitter.com/PsC2udSZ9o

That’s when Kelley Earnhardt took notice. She responded directly on X:
“It’s mind boggling where they come up with this but even more mind boggling the people that comment and believe it!”
The story’s polished writing and AI-generated images made it hard for some fans to tell it wasn’t real. It’s a growing issue across industries, but the impact is even more serious when it targets beloved public figures like the two-time Daytona 500 winner.

What’s worse is the reach the fake story had—more than 900 reactions and dozens of comments.
This episode serves as a reminder of the real-world consequences of AI-generated misinformation. Thanks to Erin’s timely post and Kelley’s quick reaction, fans got the truth—but it’s also a wake-up call. As AI-generated content becomes more common, media literacy and digital awareness matter more than ever.
