‘You Chose the Money’ — Hall of Famer Takes Dig at Myles Garrett, Urges Browns To Trade $160,000,000 Star

Myles Garrett has been one of the best pass rushers in the NFL throughout his career with the Cleveland Browns. His elite production was on display again in Week 8 when he recorded five sacks and forced a fumble against the New England Patriots.

His massive performance wasn’t enough for the Browns to get a victory as they fell to just a 2-6 record. He expressed his frustrations on the sidelines by throwing his helmet, but a Hall of Famer at his position recently explained that Garrett did this to himself.

Myles Garrett Criticized for Frustrations With the Browns After Signing Historic Contract

Garrett signed a record-breaking contract with the Browns ahead of the 2025 NFL season. His four-year extension is worth $160 million, and he became the first non-quarterback ever to sign a deal worth at least $40 million in AAV.

Hall of Fame edge rusher Jared Allen recently appeared on an episode of “Up & Adams” and spoke about Garrett’s situation with the Browns. He pointed to his decision to sign the contract as a reason why his frustrations are essentially unjustified.

“Dude, you had your chance, and you chose the money. You knew what you were getting into when they paid you to stay in Cleveland, you knew this is what you were getting,” Allen stated.

Allen believes that Garrett had his chance to walk away from the Browns. He even requested a trade to force their hand. He knew that the Browns had historically been one of the worst franchises in the NFL. He instead chose to sign a historic extension to remain with the team that drafted him. The Hall of Famer described that the superstar knew the situation when he signed the deal this year, so he chose to be with a team struggling to rebuild.

The Browns have yet to answer their ongoing questions at quarterback, with rookie Dillon Gabriel unimpressive so far and another rookie, Shedeur Sanders, yet to see the field. Allen pointed to this as one of the reasons why they will likely fail to compete for now.

Allen also urged the franchise to try still to trade Garrett to a contender, despite inking his deal just a few months ago. He suggested that the haul of draft picks they would get in return for him would be more valuable to their future than wasting the prime years of a generational edge defender.
