NFL Teams That Will Dominate Prime-Time Slots in 2025

Leading the league ͏with͏ the highest ͏number of prime-time appearances in 202͏5 ͏are the Kansas City Chiefs. Fresh off their third consecutive AFC͏ championship, the Chiefs have secured ͏seven prime-time games, including ͏a game on Christmas Day. Their season kicks off with the opener in Brazil, underlining their international appeal and ongoing dominance.

The Dallas Cowboys follow closely with six nationally televised games. Known for their massive fan base and being a consistent ratings draw, the Cowboys are featured on Thanksgiving Day as well. Both teams have some high-profile clashes in their prime-time slots, including a season-opening matchup between the Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaking of the Eagles, they are one of eight teams with five prime͏-time games. In addition to the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers,͏ Washington Commanders,͏ Miami Dolphins,͏ Los Angeles Chargers, and Atlanta Falcons also have five prime-time appearances.

NFL Game Distribution Across Networks

In 2025, over͏ 50 games are scheduled for͏ prime͏-time slots, divided among Amazon Prime Video (Thursday ͏Night Football), NBC (Sunday Night͏ Football͏), ͏and ESPN (Monday Night Football͏). Some weeks feature multiple games, including doubleheaders on Monday nights.

Thursday nights will feature matchups such as Chargers-Vikings and Chiefs-Broncos. N͏BC’s Sunday Night͏ Football opens with͏ Eagles-Cowboys ͏and includes other heavyweights like Chiefs-Lions and 49ers-Falcons. The NFL has also reserved flexibility in the latter part of the season for flex scheduling, meaning matchups may be adjusted to reflect playoff implications and team performances. For years, the only games that could be flexed were Sunday Night Football contests. However, since 2023, the league now allows flex scheduling for Thursday Night Football and Monday Night Football as well.
