ESPN’s Matt Miller has been the story of the NFL offseason so far after the draft analyst was involved in a serious car accident on June 17 that necessitated the amputation of his left arm. Miller has been mired in scandal after several complaints alleged that he had collected entry fees for charity fantasy football leagues but failed to remit the winnings.

The complaints gained renewed traction after Miller’s family started a GoFundMe to help cover his medical care costs. In an interview with Heather Sullivan this week, Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway revealed the scope of the investigations into Miller’s alleged conduct.
“We were getting complaints from Missourians that they had been victims of his, and it does look like it’s gonna be kind of a lengthy investigation because there were a lot of transactions,” Hanaway said. “That they had paid for these camps, that they had placed fantasy football bets or paid money to be in leagues, and no product was delivered.
“Or minimal product was delivered. I mean, he did legitimately have this terrible accident and obviously, my heart breaks for his circumstances. We are not specifically investigating the GoFundMe account.”

The Missouri A.G. revealed that 26 complaints have been filed over Miller’s conduct with the fantasy leagues and scouting camps. Miller’s GoFundMe had raised $51,147 towards its $55,000 goal before being paused two weeks ago when the Missouri Attorney General’s investigation was publicly announced.
Last week, Miller revealed on X that he had been placed on leave from his post at ESPN to focus on his recovery.

“A quick update: The surgery to remove my left arm was successful with hopes of an eventual prosthetic replacement. Similarly, the femur and patella surgeries were also successful and the fantastic surgery team was able to save my left leg,” Miller wrote.
“To best focus on my healing and recovery, I’m stepping away indefinitely and will be placed on leave from ESPN,” he added. “Thank you to all for the prayers and thoughts; please keep them coming.”

Earlier this week, footage of Miller’s horrific crash was revealed. The dashcam footage from the semi involved in the accident showed the NFL Draft analyst’s 2023 Ford Bronco swerving and colliding head-on with the truck at high speeds.
According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Miller, who was wearing his seatbelt during the crash, was ejected from his car after the belt severed during the head-on collision.
