The new details of Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini’s scandal, released by TMZ on Wednesday, raised the controversy to a whole new level. TMZ reported that the pair rented a private boat together back in June 2021 when Vrabel was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans. Russini, on the other hand, was pregnant at the time.
Chris Simms Calls Russini’s Pregnant Meet With Vrabel “A Different Line Crossed”
Before TMZ’s report on Wednesday, the story, while far from over, seemed to be nothing more than an alleged affair. However, after the details of Russini meeting Vrabel privately on a boat while she was pregnant were reported, the scandal reached new heights.
The new leaked pictures were discussed by many inside the NFL World on Thursday. Among the group was Chris Simms and Mike Florio from NBC’s Pro Football Talk. Simms, a former quarterback, gave his opinion on how Russini’s pregnancy in June 2021 changed his view of the situation:
“She’s pregnant, and you wanted her to come and hang out in a boat? I think that’s the first time. I know some others where the reaction is like ‘ugh’. And that’s where it’s a little odd. Okay, it’s an affair, it’s all messed up, whatever else. But this, to me, is a different line crossed, at least in my mind.”
The personal level of the duo’s relationship continues to grow darker with every new detail emerging. Russini already resigned from The Athletic due to the scandal; Vrabel, on the other hand, is unlikely to lose his job with the Patriots, unless he chooses to step down on his own.
The Patriots’ players seem to have Vrabel’s back at the time, even the new ones. A good example is Alijah Vera-Tucker, who signed with the franchise during the offseason, and recently told reporters that he appreciated how Vrabel was handling the situation.
“I think just being open and honest. I think that’s key in any relationship, and I give credit to him,” Vera-Tucker said. “He’s very honest with us, very open as well. I don’t think a lot of people would be able to do that. I respect that a lot. And like I said, I’m excited to be coached by Vrabel. I think he’s a phenomenal coach in this league.”

Given this is a personal matter, the league is unlikely to take action at this time, even if fans are calling for an investigation into her reports involving Vrabel’s teams. Still, it looks like the story is far from over.
