‘Stinks At Taking Advantage’ — NFL Analyst Questions Tom Brady’s Role At Fox After QB Takes Blame For Raiders’ Struggles

Is Tom Brady doing too much? Is his role with Fox Sports interfering with the Las Vegas Raiders' success? Some think TV is getting in the way.

Tom Brady’s playing career ended after the 2022 season when the future Hall of Fame quarterback retired with seven Super Bowl rings. After hanging up his cleats and taking a year off, the legendary QB picked up a microphone in 2024 and started working as the lead color commentator for Fox Sports’ NFL broadcasts.

Brady has operated in this role for two seasons now, but he’s also picked up a few other hobbies with his spare time. That most notably includes being a minority owner in the Las Vegas Raiders.

Should Tom Brady Quit Fox and Focus on Las Vegas Raiders?

Some think the two jobs are interfering with each other. While Brady’s job with Fox, which reportedly pays $375 million across 10 seasons, is very lucrative, couldn’t Brady’s time be more helpful to the Raiders?

Interestingly enough, last week Brady appeared on the “Stick to Football” podcast and basically tore his team to pieces. The 48-year-old said there was “nobody who did a good job.” While doing so, Brady admitted that the overhaul “starts with me.”

Recently, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio made the argument for Brady to point the finger in the mirror and ask if there’s anything he could possibly do to help the Raiders more on the field. You know, like dedicate more time to the Raiders rather than to Fox Sports.

“Tom, if it does start with you, what are you doing working for Fox?” Florio asked. “If you’re doing anything other than sitting in the boat with the rest of the team, pulling an oar, it really doesn’t start with you. It’s hard for him to say it starts with me when he’s viewing this as a hobby.”

Meanwhile, Florio points out that Brady’s gameday activities with Fox prevent him from truly taking a hands-on role with a Raiders squad that now has a young franchise QB who may benefit from the three-time MVP’s expertise.

But that’s not the worst of it. Florio puts Brady on blast by saying he’s simply “not very good” at taking the inside intel gathered from meetings with coaches and players and finding a useful way to relay that to the Raiders.

“We know he can’t do more than that. Because most days when the Raiders are playing, Tom is working elsewhere. And also acquiring plenty of insight and information along the way that could be used to help the Raiders,” Florio added.

“He didn’t do a very good job of it last year. He stinks at taking advantage of the information that he could get from these other games and turn it into something useful for the Raiders, not that that’s something that should be happening. Even as it’s being permitted, he’s no good at it.”

Which, as Florio notes, Brady shouldn’t really be conducting business by providing inside information anyway. Yet, as some might say, if you’re not cheating, you’re not trying hard enough, and it seems Brady would know that better than anyone else dating back to his Patriots days.
