Franchise legend and NFL Hall of Famer Michael Strahan believes something special could be brewing for the New York Giants.
With the 2025 NFL Draft just weeks away, the former defensive powerhouse weighed in on Colorado standout Travis Hunter, a rare two-way talent who’s made waves as both a wide receiver and a cornerback. Strahan sees enormous upside in Hunter, particularly if the Giants decide to pair him with explosive wide receiver Malik Nabers. The idea of the two young stars sharing the field has Strahan excited, calling the potential combo “damn near impossible to stop,” a bold statement from one of the game’s greats.

New Dynamic Duo in NY? Strahan Sees Elite Potential
Appearing on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Strahan responded to a question about how he would use Travis Hunter if he were the Giants’ head coach. His answer revealed a clear preference: “I would… but not all the time. Not every package,” Strahan said when asked about playing Hunter on both sides of the ball. “I think he’s more of an impact as a wide receiver.”
Strahan acknowledged Hunter’s defensive talents, describing him as a “shutdown-type corner.” Still, he emphasized that maximizing the player’s energy and skill set would be best achieved on offense. “If you’re going to use his energy, I would use it as a wideout,” he stated.
Why the Giants Could Benefit From a Hunter-Nabers Combo
The Giants hold the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft and have several needs on both sides of the field. However, the addition of an elite offensive talent could provide a spark the team has been missing since its last playoff appearance in 2022.
Hunter, who recently won the Heisman Trophy, has͏ ͏proven his capability to play͏ both͏ corner and receiver at a high ͏level. His versatility is rare, and it’s exactly the kind of game-changing presence ͏a͏ struggling franchise like New York could use.
Strahan’s suggestion to pair Hunter with Nabers, another young and explosive wideout, would give whoever is under center a lethal combo in the passing game. “Put him with Nabers would damn near be impossible to stop,” Strahan said, underscoring his belief in the duo’s potential.
The idea of forming a “new dynamic duo in NY” is more than just headline talk. It reflects the growing urgency inside the Giants’ organization. Head coach Brian Daboll and team president John Mara are entering a critical phase in the team’s rebuild.
A bold draft decision involving Hunter could change their trajectory. Additionally, both Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are considered to be entering a year critical to their futures with the team.
Whether the Giants will follow Strahan’s vision remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: a Hunter-Nabers duo could bring electricity back to MetLife Stadium.
