Micah Parsons suffered a knee injury during Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and the Denver Broncos, and the early indications are not promising. After initial tests, the Packers believe that Parsons suffered a torn ACL. If confirmed, he could be out for the season.
The injury was non-contact. He tried to beat a blocker, but his knee bent awkwardly and he went to the ground. As trainers approached him, fans noticed him saying “I’m out” as they performed initial tests. After the game, the fear was made public.
When Will Micah Parsons Return? Will He Be Ready For The 2026 Season?
If a torn ACL is confirmed after exams, this will be a tough blow for the Packers. Parsons was one of the league’s best edge defenders, and Green Bay was a true Super Bowl contender before the injuries. But Parsons and Tucker Kraft are dealing with torn ACLs, while Christian Watson suffered another serious injury on Sunday.
The initial belief is that Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons suffered a torn ACL today, as @ProFootballTalk reported. There will be further testing to see if that is the case. pic.twitter.com/YmLUtdFaV7

The recovery period for an ACL injury typically lasts around 9 to 10 months, meaning he’ll be out for OTAs in May and the mandatory minicamps in June.
The question revolves around training camp, which begins in late July. It will depend on how fast he recovers from the injury, but he’s likely to miss the initial portion of camp. He could start on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list and progress to the active roster whenever he’s ready.
If he’s on the PUP list after the end of training camp, NFL rules demand Parsons miss at least four games before being activated.
For the Packers, it’s more important that he recovers fully before returning than rushing back when he’s not fully healthy. Green Bay has a good team, and even without Parsons, they can navigate the early portion of the season and start to build a positive record. They have made the playoffs in the past two seasons and currently have a 9-4-1 record.

Still, Parsons will be sorely missed. Our PFSN EDGE Impact Metric puts him at No. 4 for the season with an 87.6 Impact Score, with 12.5 sacks. You can’t easily replace this kind of production in December.
