The Micah Parsons saga has dominated Cowboys training camp headlines. For months, the expectation was a long-term extension with Dallas, but negotiations collapsed, and Parsons stunned the team by requesting a trade. The relationship continues to unravel, and no resolution appears close.
Could Micah Parsons’ Social Media Move Signal the End in Dallas?
Now, the drama has escalated again — Parsons has scrubbed his X profile of all Cowboys content. If there was any doubt before, it’s clear now: he wants out.
Parsons was destined to be a Cowboy for life until he wasn’t. A player like Parsons is extremely hard to come by and needs to be kept with the franchise. But for the Cowboys, keeping Parsons in Dallas looks less likely by the day. Now, Parsons has removed all Cowboys-related content from his X profile.

Parsons expressed his disdain with the organization during his request, but this is the next step. His cryptic activity is furthering his stance in wanting to separate from the organization and find a new home. This comes after owner Jerry Jones took a dig at Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, for his role in the stalemate in contract negotiations.
Jones has been vocal about wanting Parsons in Dallas, but Parsons doesn’t want to be there anymore. The Cowboys general manager reportedly offered a record contract to Parsons in a meeting back in March, but Parsons wanted to show it to his agent, which is why the deal never went through after discussing it with Mulugheta.
Jones called out the agent for declining the offer that he gave to Parsons in March.
“When we wanted to send the details to the agent, the agent told us to stick it up our a**,” said Jones on his experience dealing with Mulugheta.

The relationship between Jones and Mulugheta is not great or encouraging for a potential deal. Jones has now publicly taken shots at Mulugheta, along with Parsons, for why the negotiations have panned out the way they have. The shot at Parsons is partly responsible for their deteriorating relationship after Jones called out Parsons’ availability last season, for missing four games, even though those were the first missed games of his career.
It’s going to be hard for a team to pull off a trade for Parsons, but his request and dissatisfaction with the franchise could force the hand of the front office. He’s going to cost a lot for any team looking to acquire him, and the Cowboys have the option to franchise tag him for the next two seasons, even if his contract expires while he’s not suiting up.
The Cowboys need Parsons to be the anchor of that defense. They are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2024 season, and having Parsons on the field would’ve helped with that. Right now, that’s not the case and likely won’t be for the foreseeable future. They open the season against the defending champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, and they will very likely be without Parsons, which will damage their chances at an upset victory.
