Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons has taken another shot at the organization, as his protracted contract saga with the team continues. Speaking to WWE legend Mark Calaway, Parsons accused the team of a lack of communication and revealed his bemusement at the team’s decision to drag the situation out.
Micah Parsons Takes Aim at Dallas Cowboys Organization Over Contract Delay
Parsons recently appeared on an episode of “Six Feet Under,” a podcast hosted by Calaway, also known as, The Undertaker. When asked about the reasons for his ongoing contract standoff with the Cowboys, the elite pass rusher pointed to a lack of communication from the team.
“We (Parsons and his representatives) obviously wanted to get it done early; we wanted that relief off our backs. But, obviously, ownership is always gonna make it drag out; make it more complicated than it needs to be, lack of communication.”
With Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby receiving lucrative extensions this offseason, Parsons isn’t the only elite pass rusher currently waiting for his payday. AFC North stars T.J. Watt and Trey Hendrickson are both waiting for new deals, and neither looks likely to receive one anytime soon.
The Cowboys had plenty of time to extend Parsons before the market was driven up by Crosby and Garrett, something Calaway noted to his guest. Parsons agreed that it made no sense for the Cowboys to delay, suggesting that, while some players prefer to wait on the market, he would have been happy to lead the way.

“I would never understand it (Cowboys deciding to wait). We wanted to do the contract last year; they were like, ‘We wanna do Dak (Prescott) and CeeDee (Lamb).’ Then you go out there and perform again and you would think, ‘We’ll get it done early; there’re some guys that’re getting ready to get repaid.'”
Micah Parsons Questions Criteria for New Contracts, Suggests Consistency is Overlooked
Parsons then voiced his frustrations with what he sees as a lack of consistency in teams’ decisions to award new deals. The star lienbacker expressed his confusion, stating that some players seem to be rewarded for a breakout year, while consistent performers are often made to wait.
“I just never understand when guys come into the league and they’re consistent and they perform well, why they’ve got such an urge when there’s guys that have one good year, or maybe two good years, they get it right away.”
Parsons was completely calm when discussing the situation; his demeanor was one of bafflement rather than annoyance. Dallas would be ridiculed for losing one of the top defensive players in the NFL, so Parsons knows he can expect an extension in the coming months.
It has long been the strategy of Jerry Jones to wait as long as possible before handing out contracts, avoiding as much overlap as possible. Parsons has shown no signs of wanting to leave the team, though, meaning fans should be able to relax for the time being.
