Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens is in the final year of his contract, which will be up for negotiation. Since the Cowboys recently went through a contract saga with former defensive star Micah Parsons, this might become a problem.
Why? It just so happens that Pickens and Parsons share the same agent. On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the agent made some very interesting comments about Pickens’ current situation.
What Is George Pickens’ Agent Saying?
David Mulugehta, who is a sports super-agent along the same lines as Scott Boras, made an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take” and offered some insights on Pickens and his deal. Cowboys owner-general manager Jerry Jones might want to hear Mulugehta’s comments and think about them.
It’s worth noting that Pickens will be an unrestricted free agent next year. Jon Machota, who covers the Cowboys for The Athletic, shared Mulugehta’s comments on X.
“There’s nothing personal here,” Mulugehta said. “It’s a business transaction as far as the contract is concerned. So if George Pickens does what we expect him to do, which is be one of the best receivers in the NFL this year, we’ll have those conversations with the Cowboys.”
David Mulugheta, Micah Parsons’ agent, also represents Cowboys WR George Pickens, who is in the final year of his contract.

“And if they’re open to having that dialogue with us, and negotiating a long-term deal, then we’d love for George Pickens to be a star with a star on his helmet,” he said. “But if that’s not the case, then obviously we’ll see what else is out there for him. But again, this is not going to affect any negotiations moving forward for us.”
Pickens originally signed a four-year rookie contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on May 13, 2022, worth $6,752,188 with $3,867,506 fully guaranteed, including a $2,090,680 signing bonus. Pickens was traded to the Cowboys, hopefully giving Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott another target in the Dallas offense.
In 48 career NFL games, all with the Steelers, Pickens has 174 catches for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns. In the 2024 season, he was targeted 103 times and had 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns. He also averaged 15.3 yards per reception.
What about looking at Pickens as a fantasy player pick? PFSN’s Jason Katz offered his thoughts on that very real possibility.
“Now in Dallas, Pickens finds himself in a much more favorable setup,” Katz wrote. “He’s the WR2, but in this case, it’s fair to say he doesn’t believe he should be the WR1, which is something I think he considered in Pittsburgh during the two years he played alongside Diontae Johnson.
“Pickens also has a skill set that complements (CeeDee) Lamb very well. While Lamb occupies defenders underneath and over the middle of the field, Pickens will see a ton of single coverage on the outside.”
Based on how the Parsons negotiations went for the Cowboys, it’s not clear how Jones and Cowboys management would deal with Pickens. But the wide receiver has his agent squarely in his corner at this time.
