The Duke Blue Devils are the best team in college basketball as we approach the end of the ACC’s regular season. With an outstanding record of 28-2, Duke has established an elite level of dominance, and they have done so behind the leadership of one of the best players this conference has ever seen in Cameron Boozer.
Following Duke’s 93-64 on the road at North Carolina State, Boozer continued his season of excellence by adding his name to the history books of college basketball a couple more times.
Duke Star Cameron Boozer Continues Dominant Freshman Season
Following a win that improved Duke’s ACC conference record to 16-1, Boozer etched his name in history a couple of times. Boozer accomplished feats that put him at the top of some prestige lists, which left the basketball world mind-blown on social media.
After recording a ferocious stat line of 26 points and 9 rebounds while shooting 80% from the field, Boozer kept a ridiculous streak alive that has only ever been done by former Purdue center Zach Edey.

With Boozer eclipsing 15 points and five rebounds in Monday night’s 29-point blowout victory, the Duke forward tied Edey for the longest streak with 15+ points and at least five boards in a game by a D-I player in the past 15 seasons, doing so for the 24th consecutive game, according to ESPN Insights.
With March Madness right around the corner, the buzz around college basketball is loud, and Boozer’s phenomenal performance on Monday night turned plenty of heads, as analysts debate his draft stock, which continues to rise.
“Cameron Boozer is a plug & play seamless fit for all 30 NBA teams. Don’t know if you can say that about any other NBA prospect in this draft class” @CuffsTheLegend posted to X.
“Every Cam Boozer game is like this one: 26 points (8-of-10 from the field, 1-of-2 from three, 9-of-11 from the foul line), 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 turnover, Duke wins by 30. It’s going to age very poorly if he actually goes No. 3 in this draft.” SB Nation’s Ricky O’Donnell said.
Although exaggerating, O’Donnell wasn’t far off. Boozer is averaging 22.6 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists per game in his freshman season at Duke. All while starting in all 30 of Duke’s games and shooting 58% from the field and 40% from three.
His dominance, efficiency, and leadership as a freshman make him a near-sure thing to be a top-three pick in the upcoming NBA draft, with journalists such as O’ Donnell going so far as to say allowing him to drop to three would be a mistake.
But tying a longstanding streak of consistency wasn’t all Boozer accomplished in Duke’s dominant win. The forward also accomplished a feat that no other freshman in D-I has ever achieved.
Boozer Accomplishes Freshman Regular Season First
After adding another 29 points, nine rebounds, and four assists against the Wolfpack, Boozer became the first D-I freshman over the last 30 seasons to record 650 points, 300 rebounds, and 100 assits before the conference tournament, according to ESPN Insights.

“[Boozer’s] 30 straight games putting up at least 10/5/2 is the longest streak by ANY player to hit those marks in 20 years.” CBS Writer Matt Norlander said.
What Boozer is doing in his freshman season is truly remarkable, making this season especially unique for Boozer and this Duke squad.
“He has not had a remotely bad game all season. Incredible consistency.” Seth Davis said. “Cam Boozer just shows up like a man against boys every night, and he is 18 years old. A physical specimen.” The Hoops Herald posted to X.
What Boozer has accomplished this season makes him a one-of-a-kind prospect, and his background at a blue-blood school such as Duke speaks volumes.
With just one game remaining in Duke’s regular season, Boozer looks to put an exclamation point on his freshman season while the ACC Player of the Year hopeful continues to lead Duke towards a one seed once Selection Sunday for March Madness rolls around.
As Boozer continues to set records on the court while enjoying one of the best freshman seasons of all time, the main goal remains at the forefront: winning Duke their first national championship since 2015.
