St. John’s Red Storm head coach Rick Pitino has expressed his admiration for senior forward Zuby Ejiofor and the rest of the Red Storm seniors.

Pitino has made a special request for St. John’s fans to be in their seats in time for the senior ceremony Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

St. John’s Rick Pitino Asks Fans to Show Up Early for Senior Day Celebration

Pitino, now in his third season as the Red Storm’s head coach, posted a note on X on Monday. He also retweeted a post he made when Ejiofor transferred to St. John’s after one season with head coach Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks.

“Please be in your seats by 6:30 tomorrow night for the pregame senior ceremony!” Pitino wrote. He emphasized that St. John’s fans should arrive at the Garden by 6:30 p.m. ET.

In a previous tweet, Pitino urged fans to “show up in a big way” for the seniors. “Let’s show up in a big way for Zuby and the seniors,” he wrote. “Awesome young men who give great effort every day in practice. Senior night is Special!”

At this point in the 2025-26 college basketball season, Ejiofor is averaging 15.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. He is shooting 53.0% from the floor.

Ejiofor appeared in 25 games for the Jayhawks as a freshman but did not start. In his sophomore season, Pitino’s first year as St. John’s head coach, Ejiofor appeared in 33 games, starting once, and averaged 4.3 points per game.

In his junior season, Ejiofor played in 36 games, starting 25, and averaged 14.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.

The Red Storm are 23-6 this season and ranked No. 18 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Men’s Basketball Poll, released Monday. St. John’s fell three places from last week’s No. 15 position, trailing the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils.

In Big East Conference play, the Red Storm are 16-2, just one-half game behind the conference-leading UConn Huskies.

On Saturday night, St. John’s defeated Villanova 89-57. Ejiofor recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.

The victory was critical for the Red Storm, who had suffered a 72-40 loss to UConn and head coach Dan Hurley in their previous game.
