Either Purdue reestablishes itself as the title threat we thought it to be, or it risks falling into that second tier.
Either Nebraska closes the deal on a top-15 team, or they fall for a third straight time on such an opportunity and risk being viewed as a good, not great, team.
I don’t see many ways in which this game isn’t tight. Both teams place a ton of value on every possession, leaving us in a spot where the shot count will be lower than most. Both teams have seemingly righted the ship after a bump in the road, form that will be important to sustain against this level of competition.
Pryce Sandfort offers as much consistency from distance as any top player in the nation, with at least three made triples in each of his 11 games.
His scoring has dipped of late (zero FTA in consecutive games certainly factors into that), but he has just one turnover in 74 minutes across those two games, giving the Cornhuskers offensive maturity that is important in a game like this.

Fletcher Loyer has gotten it going in each of his past two games for the Boilermakers (47 points on 13-21 FG, 10-14 3’s and 11-14 FT), picking up the slack for a rare Braden Smith down game (six turnovers against Oregon over the weekend).
That’s huge.
Smith is on the short list of players I trust most in this sport, and if Loyer can trend closer to a co-star than a Robin, I’ll remain in the corner of this team.
For that reason, I think they get to the finish line in a game that profiles as a hinge contest for both programs.
