Oregon vs. Indiana Prediction and Preview

Oregon started with a promise, winning four straight games to open the 2025-26 men’s college basketball season. Since then, the Ducks lost 15 of their next 19 games to fall into second-to-last place in the Big Ten Conference standings, half a game ahead of tailenders Penn State. Although they were in the thick of the fight in most of the games, Dana Altman’s men could not find the killer’s instinct to finish their opponents.

Worse, one of their top producers, Jackson Shelstad, was ruled out for the season after re-aggravating his right hand injury against Omaha. The injury caused tendon and ligament damage that could require surgery. Altman tweaked his rotation, employing different starting fives to give the Ducks a chance to win every game.

However, Shelstad’s absence was too much to bear, especially during Oregon’s Big Ten regular-season campaign. Due to this, Bittle was forced to become the team’s top offensive option while Evans and Simpkins were pushed to bigger roles.

In their last game against Purdue, the Ducks had a significant opportunity to upset the Boilermakers, even leading by three in the previous five minutes. But they were not able to match Purdue’s late surge, giving Oregon another costly defeat. The loss wasted Bittle’s 23-point effort, and the Ducks continued to slide down the bottom of the Big Ten standings.

On the other hand, Indiana has picked up steam since losing four straight to Nebraska, Michigan State, Iowa, and Michigan. The Hoosiers went 4-1 after the losing skid, with wins over No. 12 Purdue, UCLA, and Wisconsin. The 6’6″ Wilkerson has proven to be the leading producer for the Hoosiers this season, as he averaged 25.6 points per game during that stretch.

Wilkerson, who scored 25 points against Wisconsin, was supported by his teammates Tucker DeVries and Sam Alexis. The 6’7″ DeVries played 45 minutes against the Badgers and finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 blocks while Alexis put up 19 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 5 blocks. The 6’9″ forward has been a tower on the defensive end for the Hoosiers, recording 2.8 blocks per game during that stretch.

Indiana ranks 33rd in the NET rankings, going 12-2 in home games while recording a 3-5 mark away from home and 1-1 in neutral courts. On the other hand, the Hoosiers are 2-7 against Quadrant 1 teams but are 14-1 against Quadrant 2, 3, and 4 teams.

Indiana will be the heavy favorite to win against Oregon, but the Hoosiers must take the game seriously to avoid any mishaps. DeVries’ men will be too much for the Ducks to overcome, especially since they are on their home court.

Prediction: Oregon 66, Indiana 90
