Entering Transfer Portal

  • Isaiah Denis
  • Jonathan Powell
  • Derek Dixon
  • Jaydon Young
  • Zayden High
  • Kyan Evans
  • James Brown

Denis is entering the transfer portal after being limited to just 10 games in his true freshman year with the Tar Heels. He averaged 3.6 minutes per game. Despite his decision to enter the transfer portal, Denis indicated that he could yet return to UNC next season.

Powell is on the move again after joining UNC last summer (he spent his freshman year at West Virginia). Despite being a regular part of the rotation, Powell was used off the bench and averaged 4.8 points and 2.4 assists per game. Like Denis, he also left open the possibility of a return to North Carolina.

Dixon started the season on the bench, but fought his way into the Tar Heels’ starting lineup towards the end of the season. He averaged 6.5 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game. He is also entering the transfer portal while leaving the door ajar for a return to UNC.

Young arrived at UNC last year after two seasons with Virginia Tech. He made 31 appearances for the Tar Heels, averaging 7.2 minutes and 1.8 points per game.

High enjoyed increased playing time during his sophomore year with UNC, averaging 9.1 minutes and 3.4 points per game. He stepped up when the team was dealing with several injuries.

Evans will be looking for a new challenge this offseason after losing his spot in the UNC starting lineup. He started the season well after joining from Colorado State, but was reduced to a bit-part role off the bench later on. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.5 assists per game.

Brown underwent a season-ending foot surgery in February and is now entering the transfer portal after two seasons with UNC. He appeared in 9 games this year, averaging 1.2 points.

Confirmed Departures

Wilson has declared for the NBA Draft after his freshman year with the UNC Tar Heels. The forward averaged 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this season, but injuries meant that he wasn’t able to play in the closing stages of the season.
