Milan Momcilovic Landing Spots: 3 Schools to Watch As Iowa State Transfer Weighs Options in Transfer Portal

Milan Momcilovic has entered the transfer portal while declaring for the NBA Draft. Here are several schools that could compete for the forward's commitment.

Milan Momcilovic had a breakout season for Iowa State in 2025-26. The 6-foot-8 forward from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, posted career-high averages of 16.9 points on 50.6% shooting from the field, including a nation-best 48.7% from beyond the arc.

On Sunday, Momcilovic, who played in 102 games during his stint with the Cyclones, announced he will declare for the 2026 NBA Draft and enter the transfer portal. Plenty of programs will begin recruiting him for next season, and here are three teams to watch.

3 Schools to Watch With Milan Momcilovic in the Transfer Portal

North Carolina Tar Heels

New coach Michael Malone had extensive experience running a European-style offense in Denver, with Nikola Jokic as his center. Using his big frame and high basketball IQ, Jokic tries to post up and find snipers who are most often ready to take a 3-pointer.

Malone could replicate a similar scenario in North Carolina if Estonian center Henri Veesaar stays at Chapel Hill. Veesaar, who averaged a career-high 2.1 assists per game last season, could be developed into a facilitator, and a sniper like Momcilovic could be huge for the Tar Heels next season. Notably, North Carolina made 8.6 3-pointers in the 2025-26 campaign, with Luka Bogavac leading the team with 1.6 3-pointers made.

Momcilovic averaged 3.7 3-pointers per game last season as he developed into a full-time sniper at Iowa State. If North Carolina wants to regain its former glory, it has to adapt to basketball’s evolving landscape. Malone once ran a 5-out motion offense in Denver, and he could adapt a similar strategy if Veesaar remains with the team and UNC secures Momcilovic’s commitment.

Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky is in a rebuilding phase after losing four of its top scorers, either because they exhausted their eligibility or entered the transfer portal. As a result, Mark Pope and his coaching staff are seeking offense-minded players who can score and help the Wildcats win games next season.

Pope’s offense prioritizes 5-out spacing, rapid ball movement, and heavy 3-point volume, making Momcilovic a perfect fit for the Wildcats.

The Iowa State transfer’s shooting prowess could be a major boost for Kentucky’s Malachi Moreno, assuming he returns to school and doesn’t stay in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Florida Gators

After a disappointing second-round exit in the NCAA Tournament, Florida is reloading. Head coach Todd Golden welcomed back Denzel Aberdeen and there will certainly be some roster turnover for the Gators next season.

Momcilovic is a transfer-portal acquisition Florida needs to secure, as the Gators made 31.6% of their shots from beyond the arc in the 73-72 second-round loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Worse, the team shot 31.2% this past season, and the Iowa State transfer could be a shot in the arm next season if Florida wants to restore its championship aspirations.
