Miami (FL) was among the nation’s most improved men’s college basketball teams, with first-year head coach Jai Lucas at the helm. The Hurricanes finished the 2025-26 season 26-9 (13-5 in ACC play) — a dramatic jump from the 7-24 (3-17 in ACC play) mark they posted the previous season, which saw the abrupt retirement of longtime coach Jim Larrañaga in the middle of the 2024-25 season.
The bounce-back season helped Miami (FL) reach the 2026 NCAA Tournament, where they were ranked No. 7 in the West Regional. They outplayed No. 10 Missouri in the first round but fell to No. 2 seed Purdue in the second round.
