After all the talk and hype about Duke being the best team in college basketball, the Blue Devils lost to UConn in the Elite Eight. The Huskies secured a 73-72 victory on a last-second buzzer-beater.
One Duke player who has been criticized is Isaiah Evans. The sophomore guard is being mocked for his Instagram name and his defense on the game-winning shot from Braylon Mullins.
Sports World Mocks Isaiah Evans’ Instagram Handle After Duke Loss
Going into halftime of the Elite Eight matchup, Duke led by 15, and it seemed like all hope was lost for the Huskies. Yet, Dan Hurley and his team had other ideas. All Duke had to do was hold the ball with 10 seconds left, considering they were winning 72-70. However, Cayden Boozer passed it up the court, leading to a turnover. Mullins passed the ball to Alex Karaban, who passed it back to Mullins with three seconds on the clock.
Instead of passing again, Mullins pulled up from next to the logo to hit a three-pointer with 0.4 seconds left. He swished the shot and left Duke with only 0.4 seconds on the clock, and the tournament favorite would go on to lose.

Mullins pulled up from three with Evans in front of him, but instead of contesting the shot, Evans just looked on as the ball went up. The poor defensive effort led the sports world to laugh at the irony of the situation.
Evans’ Instagram handle is “getuhhandup” (Get a hand up), meaning you need to contest his shots when he shoots; otherwise, he’ll swish it. Instead of doing what his username implies, he let Mullins hit the game-winning shot over him.

It didn’t take long for others to notice. The “Pardon My Take” podcast account posted, “Life comes at you fast Isaiah Evans Instagram handle is @ Getuhhandup.”
The social media page “College Basketball Report” also added, “INSANE: Isaiah Evans’ backup Instagram handle is ‘getuhhandup’ (Get a Hand Up).”
After learning of Evans’ username, PFT Commenter posted, “This can’t be real,” in response to the Instagram handle.

In response to the poor defensive effort, one sports fan posted, “Isaiah Evans not even getting a hand up is actually insane here lmao buddy just said ‘i dare you to make it from that far ‘ with a final 4 on the line.”
This season, the sophomore guard averaged 15.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 43.4% from the field. Last night, he scored only seven points, with no rebounds or assists, yet he’ll be remembered as the player who didn’t contest Mullins’ game-winning three-pointer.
