Where Do UConn and Florida Stand Heading Into Week 6?

UConn has won eight of its first nine games, including a 3-1 record against top 25 teams. Dan Hurley and his team are determined to put last season’s mishaps behind them. Since losing at home to No. 1 Arizona, they have won four games in a row, including major victories over Illinois and Kansas.

Solo Ball and Alex Karaban have carried the Huskies, while Tarris Reed contributes when healthy. Ball averages 14.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists; Karaban posts 13.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. Despite playing only four games, Reed leads in scoring, averaging 15.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game.

This season, more Huskies have stepped up beyond the trio of Reed, Ball, and Karaban. Silas Demary Jr. is an all-around contributor with 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.

Freshmen Eric Reibe and Braylon Mullins have impressed, with the 7-foot-1 Reibe averaging 9.7 points and 4.9 rebounds and the 6-foot-6 Mullins posting 9.7 points and 3.0 rebounds. In their last game, UConn beat East Texas A&M 83-59, led by Ball’s 14 points.

Florida started strong, winning four of its first five games, but slipped to 5-3 after going 1-2 from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2. Todd Golden’s Gators have struggled, going 0-2 against ranked teams with losses to Arizona and Duke, which has led to a loss of momentum from their NCAA title run.

In their last game, Florida battled Duke closely until Isaiah Evans hit a go-ahead three with 19.7 seconds left, sealing Duke’s ninth straight win and handing Florida its third loss in eight games.

Thomas Haugh leads Florida with 18.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. He gets support from Alex Condon (15.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists) and Boogie Fland (12.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.9 steals).

Rueben Chinyelu averages a double-double with 10.3 points and 11.3 rebounds, while Xaivian Lee adds 8.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists for the Gators.

UConn and Florida have met seven times, with the Huskies winning five. However, Florida won their most recent matchup, a 77-75 victory in the 2025 NCAA tournament second round.
