Christian Anderson looks set to lead the way for the Texas Tech Red Raiders as they look to make a splash in the NCAA Men’s Tournament. After suffering an injury scare during Texas Tech’s Big 12 Tournament game against Iowa State, the sophomore has received the all-clear to compete in March Madness.
Christian Anderson’s Injury Status Ahead of the NCAA Tournament
During the Big 12 Tournament postseason clash between Texas Tech and Iowa State, Anderson suffered an injury scare after slipping on the controversial LED glass court, which was later replaced with a traditional hardwood court. He left the game with what appeared to be a groin injury. But he was cleared to play in the NCAA Tournament afterward.
“I’m feeling good. Obviously, the floor is a bit slippery, so I think I just misstepped or did a movement that caused me to slip and ended up in an unnatural position,” Anderson said during his postgame press conference, per Nathan Giese.
The news on Anderson’s availability will be a big boost for the Red Raiders, as the guard has been in excellent form this season. He is averaging 18.9 points and 7.6 assists per game this year.
In addition, Anderson is shooting 48.1% from the field and 42.7% from beyond the arc. He is fourth in the nation when it comes to assists per game leaders, and he also set the single-season record for Texas Tech with 236 assists.

Anderson was rewarded for his impressive performances with a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team and was also named the Big 12 Most Improved Player. He will have a key role to play in the NCAA Tournament in the absence of JT Toppin, who is sidelined after suffering a torn ACL in mid-February.
Without Toppin, Anderson will hope to make his mark during the NCAA Tournament and lead the Red Raiders on a deep run to boost his chances of becoming a high draft pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Ranked fifth in the Midwest Region, the Red Raiders will face the 12th-seeded Akron Zips in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Tournament. The game will take place on Friday, with tip-off at 12:40 p.m. ET.
Texas Tech has a 22-10 overall record. But the Red Raiders are currently on a three-game losing streak, which includes a 75-53 loss to Iowa State. They will be desperate to return to winning ways on Friday, and having Anderson available will certainly boost their chances.
