Cameron Boozer has led Duke to the No. 1 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, capping off a dominant freshman season that has him in the conversation for the top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
Breaking Down Cameron Boozer’s Numbers Until Now
Cameron Boozer was born on July 18, 2007, which makes him 18 years old. The freshman forward is one of the youngest players in college basketball and has already established himself as one of the best in the country.
Boozer was born in Salt Lake City while his father, former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, was playing for the Utah Jazz. He grew up in Miami and attended Christopher Columbus High School in Westchester, Florida.
His high school career was nothing short of legendary. Boozer won four state championships at Columbus and was named Gatorade National Player of the Year twice, in 2023 and 2025. He also won Florida Mr. Basketball three times.
Boozer committed to Duke in October 2024, following in his father’s footsteps. He arrived in Durham alongside his fraternal twin brother, Cayden, a five-star point guard who has also become a key contributor for the Blue Devils.

The 6-foot-9, 250-pound forward has delivered on every expectation this season. Boozer is averaging 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, leading Duke in all three categories.
He is the first Duke player since Cooper Flagg in 2025 and Danny Ferry in 1987 to lead the team in points, rebounds, and assists in a single season. Flagg was the No. 1 overall pick in his draft, and Ferry was selected second overall.
Boozer wasted no time making an impact at the college level. He recorded a double-double in his Duke debut against Texas with 15 points and 12 rebounds. He then scored 35 points against Indiana State, matching Zion Williamson and Jared McCain for the second-best freshman scoring performance in program history.
He became the first Duke freshman to score at least 35 points multiple times, adding another 35-point outing against Arkansas. Boozer finished the regular season with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists against North Carolina, becoming the only Division I player in the last 30 seasons to post those numbers in a regulation win over an AP top 25 opponent.
For his efforts, Boozer was named The Sporting News Men’s College Basketball Player of the Year. He also earned ACC Player of the Year and ACC Rookie of the Year honors while being selected as a First Team All-American.
Duke enters the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed with a 32-2 record. The Blue Devils swept the ACC regular season and tournament titles, defeating Virginia 74 to 70 in the championship game.
Boozer struggled in the ACC title game, finishing with just 13 points on 3 of 17 shooting while battling Virginia center Ugonna Onyenso. But his twin brother, Cayden, stepped up with 16 points, showing the depth Duke possesses.
The Blue Devils will face No. 16 seed Siena on Thursday in Greenville, South Carolina, to open their tournament run. Duke has won 11 straight games and is seeking its first national championship since 2015.
Boozer is projected as a top-three pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, with some analysts placing him at No. 1 overall. His combination of size, skill, and basketball IQ has drawn comparisons to former Duke stars Paolo Banchero and Cooper Flagg.
At just 18 years old, Boozer has already accomplished more than most players do in their entire college careers. Now he has his sights set on cutting down the nets in Indianapolis and cementing his legacy as one of the greatest freshmen in Duke history.
