Caleb Wilson Injury Update: North Carolina Star’s Target Return Date Divulged

Caleb Wilson fractured his hand and has been eyeing a potential return. Find out which game he's hoping to come back for.

Caleb Wilson is going to be a high lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and could be sitting out for the rest of the year after suffering a fractured hand against Miami just two weeks ago. Instead, he’s got his eyes set on returning to his team to compete for a national championship. There’s no bigger game in college basketball than the game he’s targeting for his return.

Caleb Wilson’s Potential Return Date Announced

Wilson is the star of the Tar Heels squad. He was immense in their victory over their rivals, Duke, in a great second-half comeback capped by a Seth Trimble game-winner. The game against Miami was when Wilson got hurt, and he has missed four games since.

He is expecting to be able to return for the rivalry match against Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium on March 7, according to ESPN’s Dave O’Brien.

The Tar Heels are going to need Wilson against the Blue Devils. He would be a huge boost to the team heading into postseason play as UNC looks to boost their resume and potentially work their way up to a higher seed.

Duke just took down the top team in the nation, the Michigan Wolverines, making them the best team in college basketball.

Wilson has averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game over 24 games so far. He leads the team in all four of these categories and has been the motor for North Carolina all season long.

In Wilson’s absence, the Tar Heels have gone 3-1 with a huge victory over No. 24 Louisville. They did lose the game against Miami, where Wilson went down, but other than that and the blowout loss to NC State, they’ve weathered the storm quite well.

Trimble stepped up for the Tar Heels again in UNC’s victory over Louisville. He dropped a career-high 30 points to take down the tough Cardinals team. UNC needs to close the season strong as they sit 5th in the ACC right now in a tight pack of teams, including Miami, NC State, and Clemson.

Getting a top-four seed in the ACC Tournament would give the Tar Heels a double bye and allow Wilson to get more time to recover after his potential return.

They’ll get a chance at Clemson on March 3 without Wilson. But if all goes to plan, that’ll be their last game without their star as he eyes his return four days later. Duke and UNC on the biggest stage to close out the regular season — there’s no better game for a Wilson return, and fans will be hoping for an encore after the fireworks from weeks ago.
