AJ Dybantsa Pushes Back on LeBron James Comparison, Leans Toward Paul George

Dybantsa answered a series of questions to see how well the AI knew him. One of the prompts asked ChatGPT to name his NBA player comparison.

The AI responded with LeBron James, Paul George, and Tracy McGrady. While Dybantsa was on board with the George comparison, he respectfully disagreed with being linked to LeBron.

“I don’t really think there’s anybody compared to LeBron James. That’s crazy,” Dybantsa said. “Paul George is a two-way player and I value defense.”

His response made it clear he sees George as the more fitting comparison. Dybantsa values defense and aims to leave his mark on both ends of the floor.

AJ Dybantsa Continues To Draw Paul George Comparisons

The Paul George comparison, in particular, has become a consistent theme among scouts and analysts, thanks to Dybantsa’s athleticism, feel for the game, and two-way skillset.

Tobias Brass of The Athletic echoed that sentiment after watching Dybantsa dominate at the U19 FIBA World Cup.

“What Dybantsa can do with the ball in his hands is reminiscent of NBA veteran Paul George. Dybantsa is similar; he is a big-shot creator with an excellent feel for the game, who can get downhill to either score or make plays for others,” Brass wrote.

“He also has a great motor; you don’t typically see kids ranked this high play this hard so consistently. He had a steal in every game but one (France), but his length and activity were always a problem for opposing teams.”
