Renowned artist Andres Ortega of Onder Ink worked on Crosby’s tattoo, featuring Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Muhammad Ali.

Ortega posted a photo of the impressive artwork once it was completed on his Instagram page. He accompanied the post with the caption: “‘BE LEGENDARY’ front panel full tattoo,” while adding several hashtags before adding: “Always my team @onder_ink.”

Onder Ink has done tattoos for other NFL players, such as Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins, Detroit Lions EDGE Joshua Paschal, Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Buffalo Bills S Damar Hamlin.

Ortega used Ali’s famous “get up” pose from his May 1965 fight against Sonny Liston. John Rooney of the Associated Press and Neil Leifer of Sports Illustrated took photos of that iconic image of Ali towering over Liston.

Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest NBA player ever, is also featured in the tattoo. Jordan won six championships and six Finals MVP awards. He is also a five-time regular season Most Valuable Player and 14-time NBA All-Star.

Lastly, Kobe Bryant is a five-time NBA champion and two-time Finals MVP. He is an 18-time NBA All-Star and the 2008 MVP awardee. The legend tragically passed away in January 2020.

Crosby’s front panel tattoo also featured his jersey number (98), a flower, two diamonds, and the words “humble beast.”

The work took Ortega over 11 hours to complete, according to TMZ.

In addition to the tribute to some of the greatest athletes, he also got a tattoo of his young daughter, who just turned one, on his chest.

“(My tattoo) means a lot. I obviously got my daughter on my chest,” Crosby said. “I’m a very visual person, and I like to work for it on a daily basis. I just don’t talk about it. I chase relentlessly.”

Crosby signed a four-year, $98.98 million contract extension with the Raiders on March 11, 2022. A month before, he got engaged to Rachel Washburn. They welcomed their first child, Ella Rose Crosby, in fall of 2022.

In 2022, Maxx Crosby had career highs in tackles (88) and sacks (12.5). Those numbers earned him a second consecutive Pro Bowl selection. He was sixth in the voting for NFL Defensive Player of the Year, which San Francisco 49ers EDGE Nick Bosa won.
