Maxx Crosby Injury Update: Raiders Star Reveals Status After Ankle Surgery

Maxx Crosby will remain in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future after signing a massive three-year, $106.5 million extension. Crosby is the fourth-highest-paid non-quarterback in the league, based on average annual salary, and the Raiders recently got an update on the four-time Pro Bowler’s injury.

With $91.5 million in guaranteed money, the team is going to want Crosby out on the field for every single play, and that seems likely with a recent injury report.

Maxx Crosby Reveals His Status for Next Season

It truly is full speed ahead in terms of Crosby’s injury update. Crosby himself commented on returning from injury, “It’s amazing. I mean, I feel like a little kid out there, you know what I mean? I miss it.”

Crosby touched on what it took to get back out onto the field so soon, “The rehab literally started in December, I literally didn’t have an offseason, I’ve been here the whole time. It’s been five months of hardcore training and rehabbing every single day, and sacrificing even more [to see] how can I go to an even higher level.”

Almost immediately after he underwent surgery on his ankle in mid-December, Crosby was back in the gym rehabbing. While he knew there was no return in 2024, he wanted to make sure he was back at full strength, ready to go as soon as the 2025 season began. NFL offenses need to watch out for a hungry Crosby out on the field, who Pete Carroll will now coach.

With 2024 not going as intended, Crosby reminisced on the season, “Last year was definitely one of the hardest years of my life in general — so many things going on, battling injuries, not being able to be myself at times, I felt like.”

He continued, “There’s no excuses. It’s just tough. It’s part of the game, and that’s what comes with it. And that’s the first time in my career I felt like, like Week 2, I’m on a popped tire, and it’s just I’m doing everything in my power to try to go out there and help my teammates, and at times I feel like it just wasn’t the same.”

After securing a massive contract in the offseason, Crosby doesn’t have to worry about talks of being traded anymore or what team he could potentially be on. Crosby will aim to build on a 2024 season that was cut short. The 27-year-old pushed through the injuries as long as he could, accounting for his 7.5 sacks and 45 tackles in 12 games.
