A failed blockbuster trade between the Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders continues to reveal new details as Maxx Crosby shared his side of the story. Following a visit that was expected to finalize the deal, Crosby described a strange and uncomfortable experience inside the Ravens’ facility.
Maxx Crosby Describes Baltimore Ravens Visit and Trade Collapse
Crosby opened up on “The Rush With Maxx” and detailed how the visit quickly took an unexpected turn.
“I didn’t see him [Eric DeCosta] for five hours. I thought I was going to meet him right away and I never saw him. When I finally got upstairs at the end of the day the energy felt off,” Crosby said.
He added, “I dapped him up and he just had a blank face. Then they sat me down and told me one of their doctors had concerns about my knee and they needed more opinions. The first thought in my head was what the f*** is going on. I was low key freaking out thinking something was wrong.”
The timeline Crosby described paints a confusing picture. He underwent medical testing and meetings, but did not meet key decision-makers until late in the process. By the time those conversations happened, the tone had already shifted.
Crosby then broke down what they told him:
“I go into the room. They sit me down on the couch and he’s like, “Man, I don’t know how to say this, but you know, one of our doctors has concerns with, you know, with the results and whatever with your knee. Some of them are concerned about the future, and we really want you, and this is what it is, but you know, we’re just going to have to get more and more opinions.”
Crosby’s value helps explain why the deal drew so much attention.
He finished last season with the second-highest PFSN NFL EDGE Impact score and has consistently produced double-digit sack pressure across multiple seasons. Crosby’s ability to disrupt games off the edge makes him a game-changing defensive presence.
According to Crosby, the uncertainty continued even after he left the facility. His agents warned him the deal might fall apart. At one point, he was told the trade would still go through. Minutes later, he learned Baltimore had backed out.
The deal would have sent Crosby to the Ravens for two first-round picks. Instead, concerns about his surgically repaired knee halted the move entirely.
Las Vegas Raiders Stand Firm After Failed Baltimore Ravens Trade
With the trade off the table, Las Vegas is not moving Crosby. For now, the Raiders plan to keep him as a centerpiece moving forward.

Crosby remains under contract through 2029 after signing a three-year, $106.5 million extension. His cap number stays manageable in future seasons, giving the Raiders flexibility as they build around their core.
Despite the confusion surrounding the failed deal, Crosby said he is focused on what comes next. “No one will ever admit what the real truth is,” he said. “Ultimately, it doesn’t matter. I am where I’m supposed to be.”
