Maxx Crosby’s Raiders Future in Question After 5-Time Pro Bowler Blasts Team’s Controversial Decision

Maxx Crosby clashes with Raiders over injury benching. Inside his frustration, trade rumors, and what it means for Las Vegas’ future.

Maxx Crosby currently seems to be mistaking oranges for lemons. His injury history this season is preventing the Las Vegas Raiders from giving him any action in the upcoming game against the New York Giants.

Some insiders feel it is a potential trade-off signal. But Crosby is one of the most valuable assets the team has, and risking his health would have long-term implications for the team’s performance. However, Crosby is not happy with where the team has put him and still wants to play. In a recent conversation with an NFL insider, he shared his thoughts on the current state of affairs.

Maxx Crosby Expresses a Controversial Mindset Mismatch With the Team Authorities

Speaking with Jay Glazer of Fox Sports: NFL, Crosby did not hold back. On “The Inside Scoop,” the NFL insider relayed what the highest-paid non-QB had to say about his team’s decision. “Look, I have been on the phone with Maxx bunch of the last couple of days. He is not happy,” Glazer began.

He continued, “He’s (Crosby) like, ‘Jay, I play football. This is what I do. I have had a knee injury since, like, Week 3, I played with the entire time. They told me to shut me down, and I was like, ‘No, absolutely not.’ I play football. There’s no shutting it down for me. I wanna be out there, I wanna be out there with my teammates.'”

While it seems apparent that Crosby being upset might not change the team’s decision, Glazer connected his recent statements with something the defensive end had said during the season’s trade deadline.

“Remember back at the trade deadline, guys. I said that Maxx Crosby told me and told the Raiders, ‘I wanna get traded anywhere, no matter what.’ Wondering now if that still holds true despite this,” Glazer said.

Why Is the Crosby Trade Highly Unlikely?

In March 2025, Crosby became the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Although that distinction lasted only briefly before Micah Parsons, T.J. Watt, Ja’Marr Chase, and Myles Garrett surpassed his $35.5 million AAV, the contract itself underscored how highly the Raiders value him.

When it comes to the knee injury, Ian Rapoport’s reporting provides important context.

“Raiders star Maxx Crosby was informed that he’ll be out Sunday vs. the Giants because of the knee injury he’s been battling since October. LV made the decision with Crosby’s best interest in mind, though the Pro Bowler has been fighting to play and wants to play,” wrote Rapoport on X.

Ultimately, only time will tell which direction things go for Crosby. Even if the decision is made with his best interests in mind, he is not the type to simply accept it without pushing back.
