The Maxx Crosby-to-the-Ravens trade that once was is now a major talking point around the NFL. With the Las Vegas Raiders headed toward a rebuild, it was logical for them to seek assets for their star lineman, but people are questioning the integrity of Baltimore’s new regime after they pulled out of the trade.
According to our PFSN EDGE Impact, Crosby has been a top-two edge rusher in the NFL in four of the last five seasons, including last season, where he received an impact score of 95.3 and an A grade. He had 10 sacks, 20 QB hits, and 73 total tackles last season.
Agent CJ LaBoy Questions Baltimore Ravens’ Integrity Over Maxx Crosby Trade
The Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders agreed to a trade where Crosby would head to Baltimore for a pair of first-round picks. However, the Ravens claimed there was something off with his physical and backed out at the last second.
A lot of people aren’t buying the Ravens’ reasoning, including Crosby’s agent, CJ LaBoy. It is not clear exactly what LaBoy is calling “fake news,” but the most likely answer is the Ravens’ claim that, if the deal had gone through, they would have paired their new signee, Trey Hendrickson, with Crosby and offered him a top-of-the-market contract.
This sounds nice in theory, but LaBoy rebuffed those claims, as seen above. It’s unlikely the Ravens would have been able to pull this off and stay under the salary cap.
Fake news.

Normally, in business, whether in professional sports or otherwise, deals take a long time to complete because everyone involved wants to do their due diligence and make sure that the deal makes sense for them before they sign the papers and make it official. Because of this, it is extremely bad business to pull out at the last second.
The Ravens’ case, in particular, looks even worse because they announced another signing almost immediately after backing out of this trade, at Crosby’s position no less. It is extremely likely that, before coming to terms on the deal, the team and the agent at least discussed what a future deal would look like.
In any case, the Ravens got their guy in the end, and while they may have burned a few bridges in the process, they are sticking to the story they are telling and moving forward.
It remains to be seen where Crosby will play next season, but I would guess he will want the Ravens on the schedule to show them that his health is just fine and that they made a mistake.
