The Pittsburgh Steelers remain hopeful about signing future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the upcoming season. While the four-time MVP has appeared at public events during the offseason, Rodgers hasn’t announced if he’ll suit up for Pittsburgh in 2025.

NFL Announcer Mark Schlereth Criticizes Aaron Rodgers for Missing OTAs
Steelers OTAs begin later this week, and Rodgers’ participation remains uncertain. His absence from team activities caught the attention of former NFL offensive lineman and current Fox Sports broadcaster Mark Schlereth. On a recent episode of Breakfast Ball, Schlereth questioned Rodgers’ commitment:
“Listen, if you could be at some public venue answering questions about your career, could you be at OTAs?”
Schlereth was referring to Rodgers’ recent attendance at a fan event in Austin, Texas, where he participated in a live interview with the YNK podcast. Interestingly, Rodgers used that event to drop a subtle hint about potentially joining the Steelers.

“I believe there’s a team that might play in Chicago this year. Road trip. I don’t know, not sure. Will have to check it out,” Rodgers said.
He was referencing the Steelers’ scheduled game against the Bears in late November. Rodgers famously has dominated Chicago throughout his career, holding an impressive 25-5 record against the Bears.
Why Aaron Rodgers Could Be a Perfect Fit for the Steelers
If Rodgers returns to football this season, the Steelers remain his most logical destination. Pittsburgh’s current quarterback room leaves much to be desired. Mason Rudolph is better suited as a backup, and rookie Will Howard is still developing after being picked in the sixth round.
Rodgers would provide Pittsburgh exactly what they need—a veteran quarterback capable of elevating the offense immediately. Despite injuries over the past two seasons with the New York Jets, Rodgers still delivered strong numbers in 2024. He threw for over 3,800 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, proving he can still compete at a high level.
At age 41, Rodgers isn’t young, but when healthy, he’s one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks. Pairing Rodgers with Pittsburgh’s strong defense could quickly turn the Steelers into legitimate contenders.
As the Steelers prepare to open offseason workouts, fans can only wait and hope. Rodgers’ latest hint gives reason for optimism, suggesting that a deal could still happen.
With limited time remaining until OTAs begin, the Steelers need clarity. Rodgers signing soon would help stabilize Pittsburgh’s offseason and give fans the star quarterback they’ve dreamed of seeing in black and gold.
