Marcus Mbow’s NFL Draft Scouting Report
Marcus Mbow played at both right guard and right tackle in college, but projects better on the interior at the NFL level. There’s a chance he could stick outside with his explosive, fluid atheticism, but he might not have the level of elite quickness as an athlete to fully compensate for his sub-33″ arms.
Nevertheless, at either spot, Mbow brings viable two-phase utility. In pass protection, he’s explosive laterally, with good natural leverage, incredibly violent hands, and impressive stunt vision. In the running game, he’s one of the best in-space blockers in the class, and particularly thrives when he can climb to the second level and attack defenders in zone looks. Best at guard, serviceable at tackle, with some distant projectability to center, Mbow’s versatility is his greatest strength.

Where Does Marcus Mbow Rank Among 2025’s OT Prospects?
Here are the top 10 OT rankings for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to PFSN Draft Analyst Ian Cummings:
10. Emery Jones Jr., LSU
9. Ozzy Trapilo, Boston College
8. Marcus Mbow, Purdue
7. Josh Conerly Jr., Oregon
6. Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona
5. Donovan Jackson, Ohio State
4. Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas
3. Josh Simmons, Ohio State
2. Will Campbell, LSU
1. Armand Membou, Missouri
For some, Marcus Mbow projects better as a guard at the NFL level. That said, his tackle tape is intriguing enough for evaluators to consider keeping him there. The blueprint for a player like Marcus Mbow is Green Bay Packers right tackle Zach Tom, and similarities are there.
At 6’4″, 309 pounds, with 33″ arms, Mbow is undersized, but he makes up for it with torrid explosiveness, grueling physicality at the point of attack, efficient footwork, and ultra-violent hands. And with his well-leveraged frame, pad level is rarely an issue.
For Mbow, the questions center around just how close he is to an athlete like Tom. Mbow isn’t quite as sudden in recovery, he’s not quite as flexible in his midsection, and he can struggle with power when worked off-balance. Nevertheless, starting potential is there.
