There was finally a call for celebration for the New York Giants. After a terrible start to the season, the appointment of Jaxson Dart as the new starting quarterback gave the entire franchise something to hold onto.
However, their honeymoon period lasted less than one half an action. After a dominant showing on both sides of the football, the team saw one of the worst situations unfold on the field, with superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers going down in a brutal-looking situation.
What Happened to Malik Nabers?
With a little over six minutes left in the game, Nabers tried to go up for a catch on a moon ball near the right sideline close to the end zone.
However, it immediately became clear that something was wrong as he came down clutching his right knee.

Soon after, a cart was brought out for the sophomore, as Ian Rapoport confirmed on X, “#Giants star WR Malik Nabers is being carted off with an apparent knee injury after going airborne down the sideline.”
The confirmation of his official injury came some time later, courtesy of Tom Pelissero and Rapoport. The duo concluded on X, “#Giants WR Nalik Nabers is believed to have torn his ACL, per me and @TomPelissero. A crushing blow.”
That would imply that he’s likely done for the 2025 season, barring a miraculous comeback.
This one looks really bad. Nabers is obviously one of the best wide receivers in the league. There is no replacing him. If this is as serious as we think it is, the Giants will have to change their offensive game plan.
Darius Slayton is the one-to-one fill-in for Nabers. He would start in two receiver sets. We could also see some more targets headed Wan’Dale Robinson’s way. Given that Robinson is already on most fantasy rosters, Slayton would be the primary target via the waiver wire.
Malik Nabers graded as our 13th-best receiver a season ago, no small accomplishment for a rookie playing in an offense that struggled to move the ball for the bulk of the season.
Entering Week 4, his per-17 game career averages (118 catches and 1,375 yards) put him on the trajectory of the best in the game, and with this being the first week of the Jaxson Dart era, expectations were as high as they’ve been in recent memory for the Giants.
This obviously is a major downgrade for the Giants’ offense, including Jaxson Dart, who has looked good in his NFL debut.
