A tight-end timeshare is not exactly ideal for fantasy football purposes, but the Green Bay Packers duo of Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft comes with a ton of unknowns entering their respective second seasons in the NFL.
Will Musgrave emerge as the top fantasy producer in the Packers’ TE room in 2024?
Luke Musgrave’s 2024 Fantasy Outlook
- Total Fantasy Points: 157.1
- Receptions: 71.0
- Receiving Yards: 735.1
- Receiving TDs: 2.1

Should You Draft Musgrave This Year?
On the surface, Musgrave’s 34 receptions for 352 yards and one score for a TE31 overall fantasy finish doesn’t exactly scream future fantasy at the position. Yet, the context of Musgrave missing six games his rookie year does paint a slightly more favorable per-game picture for a player in his first season in the NFL.
Musgrave flashed ample pass-catching chops and formation versatility as a move TE in this Green Bay offense, which led to some encouraging performances through his first 10 NFL games. During that stretch, he scored 6+ fantasy points in seven contests.
Unfortunately, Musgrave didn’t see quite enough overall volume to crack the top 20 at the position. He was the TE22 through the first 11 weeks of the season.
Another unfortunate development was the production the Packers saw from his backup (Kraft) from Weeks 12-17 when Musgrave was inactive. Kraft was actually the TE8 with 23 receptions for 281 yards and two scores on 30 targets.
These numbers suggest Musgrave could find himself in a timeshare or outright lose his starting job to Kraft. In all likelihood, both players will cap each other’s respective fantasy ceiling.
If they do split the reps on a close to 50/50 basis, this will create a nightmare scenario for fantasy managers where determining which player will potentially go off becomes essentially impossible.
Musgrave has the physical tools to be a very productive fantasy option at the TE position, but his range of outcomes push him well outside of the top 12 at the position entering the 2024 NFL season.
Musgrave’s ADP at No. 143 overall in the 12th round as the TE17 off the board comes with low expectations in an ascending filled with young promising pass-catchers. For some additional context, Musgrave is currently going off the board after Dalton Schultz, Pat Freiermuth, and Cole Kmet.
The presence of Kraft makes this a complete mystery. On one hand, Musgrave dominating the snaps to start last year suggests he could be the leading the position in total snaps. On the flip side, you could make the argument Kraft actually showed more fantasy upside when Musgrave was out of the lineup over the back half of the season.
The good thing is both players cost essentially nothing on draft day, which takes away a fair amount of stress of adding either of these options to your fantasy team.
Most fantasy managers rightfully don’t want to waste two roster spots on the tight end position, but it is plausible strategy to simply draft both players and see how the roles play out through the first two or three games of the year. This offense produce a top-10 fantasy TE with both of these players having the type of talent to produce numbers at the position.
