The Washington Commanders had a disastrous performance in their Sunday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks. Several players left this 34-10 loss early due to injuries, including a key receiver who will be out for a while, according to the latest update.

What Injury Did Luke McCaffrey Suffer Against the Seattle Seahawks?
Luke McCaffrey has carved out a role this season on the Commanders’ roster. The second-year wideout is third on the team in receiving yards and second in this category among his position group.
McCaffrey was a third-round pick out of Rice in the 2024 NFL Draft, and his versatility to line up on the outside and also play in the slot is critical to Dan Quinn’s team. Unfortunately, the Commanders’ 24-year-old wideout left last night’s game during the first quarter, after suffering a shoulder injury on the opening kickoff.
McCaffrey did not return to the contest, and Ian Rapoport just provided clarity on the receiver’s health status.
Bad to worse: #Commanders WR and returner Luke McCaffrey broke his collarbone last night, per The Insiders, and is headed to Injured Reserve. Another blow on a bad night in Washington.

The Commanders’ Postseason Hopes Suffered a Brutal Reality Check Sunday Night
McCaffrey’s placement on injury reserve means he’ll, at minimum, have to miss four games. It generally takes a broken collarbone six to eight weeks to heal, unless surgery is required. If surgery is necessary, the expected recovery time is approximately two to three months.
Therefore, with eight more games left in the season, the chances of McCaffrey returning to the field in 2025 are slim. In addition, the Commanders may not want to rush him back, considering their playoff odds at this point. Star quarterback Jayden Daniels is now sidelined indefinitely after dislocating his elbow against the Seahawks.
The Commanders now sit at 3-6 overall and 13th in the NFC. That is a steep drop-off from last season, which saw the franchise win twelve games and qualify for the conference championship game for the first time this century.
Overall, Sunday’s game against the Seahawks was indicative of this team’s season. There have been too many injuries from this group to gain any rhythm, and now several key players are out for the foreseeable future. The Commanders still have a bright future with Daniels as their quarterback, but things are certainly bleak for the rest of the 2025 season.
