Luke McCaffrey’s 40 Time: How Fast Is the 2024 NFL Draft Prospect?

Meet Luke McCaffrey, Christian McCaffrey's brother, who converted from quarterback and entered the NFL Draft as an intriguing wide receiver.

After a successful college career, Luke McCaffrey, brother of Christian McCaffrey, will be the next member of the family to play in the NFL.

After initially playing for Nebraska, the younger McCaffrey brother transferred to Rice, where he played quarterback through the 2021 season before converting to wide receiver in the spring.

While he might not be a prototypical receiver, McCaffrey is a natural athlete, which bodes well for him at the next level.

Let’s take a look at how McCaffrey performed at the NFL Combine and what his scouting report looks like.

Luke McCaffrey Impressive NFL Combine Performance

McCaffrey’s 6’1 5/8″ height puts him in the 60th percentile in direct comparison to his peers at the WR position. His 198-pound frame is a little bit on the smaller side, ranking in the 42nd percentile.

McCaffrey made a strong impression beyond his measurables, as he dazzled in the 40-yard dash and excelled in the three-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle.

How Fast Is McCaffrey?

The 23-year-old converted receiver ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash.

McCaffrey’s 40-yard dash put him in the 69th percentile in direct comparison to his peers at wide receiver.

While McCaffrey’s 40-yard dash likely impressed NFL general managers, his athleticism remained on display throughout other drills.

McCaffrey had a 6.7-second three-cone drill, which put him in the 87th percentile. His 4.02-second 20-yard shuttle put him in the 91st percentile of that category, as well.

How Old Is McCaffrey?

Born April 2, 2001, McCaffrey turned 23 years old just a couple weeks before the NFL Draft.

Because of his spring birthday, McCaffrey will not turn 24 years old until he gets ready for his second season in the NFL.

“McCaffrey has the physical profile and raw movement abilities to be a consistent separator out of the slot in the NFL,” Cummings wrote. “His foot quickness, plus-level acceleration, and ball skills paired with a nice size and speed profile give offensive coordinators plenty to work with when McCaffrey arrives for his rookie season.”

While he is still fully grasping the position, McCaffrey needs some refinement but will be an intriguing prospect because of his athletic promise.
