Haley Cavinder just closed the chapter on her basketball journey, but she’s opened a new one in her personal life.
The college basketball standout and social media personality surprised fans by announcing her engagement to Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson in a post that quickly made waves across the internet.
Livvy Dunne Reacts to Haley Cavinder’s Stunning Engagement Ring From Jake Ferguson
On April 17, Cavinder, 24, revealed her engagement via Instagram Stories, flaunting her new ring while standing in front of a white floral backdrop at a beachside location. Though the Dallas Cowboys tight end, Jake Ferguson, wasn’t visible in the image, ESPN confirmed he was the one holding her hand.
She later shared more celebratory content in a joint TikTok account with her twin sister, Hanna, where Ferguson appeared mouthing lyrics from Future’s “Low Life” before Cavinder entered the frame to hug him, showing off her new diamond.
A second TikTok hinted at the surprise element of the proposal with the text overlay being: “OOTN (my twin doesn’t know she’s getting engaged),” suggesting Hanna helped set the stage for the memorable moment, which took place in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
On Saturday, April 19, Cavinder continued to soak͏ ͏in͏ her engagement bliss, ͏sharing several photos to Instagram where she posed in a white string bikini and backwards ͏cap. In the photos, she flashed ͏her ͏stunning͏ oval-͏shaped diamond͏ ring while ͏seated on a patio chair in front of ͏a ͏balloon display that spelled out “engaged.”͏
She ͏struck a kissy face in one snap and positioned her hand front ͏and centre in͏ another͏, letting the ring take͏ the ͏spotlight. Cavinder kept the post caption-free, allowing the images to speak for themselves. However, the comments section was buzzing.
Among the flood of reactions, one stood out: fellow social media star and LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne dropped a one-word comment: “Slay.”
Cavinder and Ferguson began dating in 2023. In September 2024, she posted an anniversary tribute on Instagram, writing, “a year with Ferg.”
Ferguson echoed the sentiment with a post of his own: “A year with my Shorty! Life with you is so much better. Would headbutt anyone for you❤️ #Terminal.”
The engagement announcement came shortly after Cavinder declared her retirement from basketball on Instagram in March this year: “18 years later, and it’s time to say goodbye to the game I’ve loved since I was six…” She had previously committed to TCU for a return to college basketball but ultimately chose to reunite with Hanna at Miami for their final season together.
Now, as the Cavinder Twins transition out of college athletics, Haley is embracing the future with a fiancé by her side and a sparkling ring to mark the next chapter.
