Larry Fitzgerald Praises Marvin Harrison Jr. as “a Guy Who Made a Lot of Plays”

Fitzgerald was complimentary of the work that Harrison Jr. has done. The 41-year-old shared what he saw while watching the Cardinals last season. “I saw a guy who made a lot of plays. He did a really good job. When the ball came to him, he made his plays. He’s only gonna continue to get better, so I’m excited to see his Year 2.”

He also added that he has a relationship with the second-year player. Fitzgerald revealed that they had spoken “five or six times” in the past year, but they do not keep in regular contact.

“If he ever needs anything, I told him I’m always available for him any way I can be helpful. But fortunately, he has a father who was a heck of a lot better than I was, so he can tap into him whenever he likes.”

That father is Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Sr., who was a legendary wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts and instrumental in the Colts winning Super Bowl XLI in 2007, their first Super Bowl since 1970.

Harrison had his best years before Fitzgerald entered the league in 2004, but there was some crossover between the two players. They both made the Pro Bowl in 2005 and led the league in receptions for two seasons.

Harrison made the 2000s all-decade team, while Fitzgerald was on the 2010s all-decade team. Their teams also played each other once, on Jan. 1, 2006. The Colts came out on top with a 17-13 victory that night, but Fitzgerald had the better game. He caught six receptions for 80 yards, while Harrison had two catches for 19 yards.

Fitzgerald at Kyler Murray Celebrity Softball Game

Larry Fitzgerald spoke to the media on May 17 at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was the assistant coach in a charity celebrity softball game organized by current Cardinals starting quarterback Kyler Murray.

Current NFL players like Cowboys wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens and former Phoenix Sun Cam Johnson participated in the game, as did current Cardinals like James Conner, Trey McBride, and Harrison Jr.
