Things Are Looking Good for Lamar Jackson’s Return

The Ravens posted an update on X where coach John Harbaugh was asked about the latest on Jackson’s injury.

The coach provided optimism, saying: “I feel very confident about it, and we’re expecting him to be out there Thursday night.”

NFL.com still lists the quarterback as questionable; however, that is likely to change if Harbaugh’s comment holds weight.

Jackson last saw action in Baltimore’s 37-20 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. The team lost its next two games and only managed to turn things around after its Week 7 bye with a 30-16 victory over the Chicago Bears.

The Ravens have already seen three starting shot-callers this season, even before the trade deadline. The void left by Jackson was initially filled by Cooper Rush, who failed to make any significant impact under center.

He finished the loss versus the Chiefs before getting run out of Houston by the Texans with a score of 44-10. His poor showing in Week 6 against the LA Rams ended with 3rd-string Tyler Huntley replacing him to close out the 3-17 loss.

Huntley came out of their bye week as the new starter and capitalized on the opportunity by going head-to-head with Ben Johnson’s Bears offense and beating Chicago 30-16.

Across the four games that Rush has featured in this season, he compiled 303 passing yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions. His contributions on the ground were even worse, with four carries for -4 yards and no score.

Huntley has looked better in his showings. In two games, he’s 1-0 as a starter, having orchestrated the win over Chicago, and thrown for 254 yards, one score, and no picks. His ground game, on the other hand, has looked considerably better than that of Rush. On 11 carries, Huntley recorded 92 yards to support the rushing attack.

Beyond the finer details of the backups’ performances, Jackson is still the one whom the Ravens want back. In his four games this campaign, he put up 869 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and only one pick. His run game has been equally impressive, having recorded 166 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown.
