Lamar Jackson has been one of the best players in the league during his career with the Baltimore Ravens, including twice being named the NFL MVP. His issues have mostly come in the playoffs, where he has just a 3-5 record and has yet to make a Super Bowl appearance.
His relative postseason failures, as well as his concerning contract situation, have one analyst questioning the quarterback’s future with the franchise.
Lamar Jackson’s Contract a Rumored Issue for Ravens
Jackson has spent his entire career with the Ravens, but apparently, this could soon be coming to an end. NFL analyst Dan Graziano recently broke down his contract situation during an episode of “Get Up” and speculated what it may mean for his future in Baltimore.
“They are at an inflection point with Lamar Jackson’s contract. There are two years left, no guaranteed money, and if they do nothing, the cap hit is almost $75 million. So, they have to address it in some way. Most teams would do it as an extension, and the Ravens very well may … But, they haven’t had success with him … They have built elite teams around him that couldn’t get over that hump and get to the Super Bowl,” explained Graziano.

Having Jackson associated with trade rumors during the upcoming offseason is surely a shocking development, but Graziano made several intriguing points about how the possibility may be more realistic than it seems.
The cap hit on his contract is almost unmanageable with the way it currently sits, so it’s fair to assume that some type of negotiations will occur after the season. He pointed out that while an extension is the most logical way to approach it, it’s also possible that the Ravens will take this as an opportunity to go in a different direction.
He also mentioned that they could essentially start over by exploring a trade for their superstar quarterback and firing head coach John Harbaugh. Their lack of playoff success is one of the biggest reasons for Graziano’s speculations.
The franchise is in legitimate danger of missing out on the postseason altogether this year, which would obviously be a massive disappointment for a team with expectations of competing for a Super Bowl ring.
Jackson has struggled to stay healthy this year and ranks just 16th among all quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings for this season, but he would easily be one of the biggest trade targets in NFL history if he were to be made available.
