Millions of fans will turn on Netflix on Christmas Day and watch Lainey Wilson. The singer will be part of Snoop Dogg’s halftime show during the Detroit Lions-Minnesota Vikings game, the second of three NFL games scheduled for December 25, 2025.
Lainey Wilson rose to fame with a notable career in country music, and her relationship with the NFL started way before the halftime show. She’s engaged to a former NFL quarterback, and their relationship has been going strong since the start of the decade.
Lainey Wilson and Devlin Hodges Have Been Engaged Since the Start of the Year
According to reports, the couple started dating in 2021, but their relationship became public in 2023. He was already out of the NFL at the time, having spent his first two years in the league with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and later signed with the Los Angeles Rams. However, he had no team from 2022 onwards.
Hodges actually played in a few NFL games. During his rookie year, Ben Roethlisberger suffered a serious injury in Week 2 and did not play for the rest of the year. He ended up playing in eight games for the Steelers, starting six of them and earning a 3-3 record in those contests.

The Steelers missed the playoffs in 2019 with an 8-8 record. He had 62.5% of completed passes, 1,063 yards, five touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
When their relationship was revealed to the public, Wilson spoke about how it shifted her views on her career, especially with love songs. “I was never really able to write love songs, because I don’t know if I had actually felt it, but I’m writing me some love songs now. I’m grateful for him,” she said.
The couple announced their engagement in February 2025. Hodges currently works as a real estate agent. Despite his NFL career not working out as expected, he was able to fulfill his dream of starting multiple games in the league.
One curious aspect about Hodges is his nickname. He was known as “Duck” Hodges during his time in the NFL. He got the nickname from a former college coach at Samford, who named him as one of his former athletes.
