Ladd McConkey Sends Strong Message About Chargers’ Super Bowl Aspirations

The Los Angeles Chargers started the season off with three straight divisional games. Two of their opponents made the playoffs in 2024, including the Super Bowl, and on top of that, divisional games are always tough. They made it through the stretch unscathed with a 3-0 record and as one of the best teams in the NFL.

Upsetting the Chiefs in their season opener, a controlling win over the Las Vegas Raiders, and a last-minute victory over the Denver Broncos have the Chargers faithful believing that this team can win the Super Bowl. Star WR Ladd McConkey addressed these Super Bowl aspirations.

Ladd McConkey on the Chargers’ Super Bowl Hopes

The Chargers are looking very dangerous in the AFC, and the Super Bowl doesn’t sound like a far-fetched goal. McConkey spoke with RG about what the Chargers are looking to accomplish this season.

“It was good to get the experience [in last year’s playoffs], but definitely not the way we wanted it to end,” McConkey said. “Getting to the playoffs is a start, now let’s take it up a notch. Let’s win some playoff games, let’s make a deep run and the ultimate goal is always to win the Super Bowl.”

The Chargers suffered a tough loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round of the 2024 postseason. Losing 32-12 in the first round was not what the Chargers were looking for, but after new additions in the offseason, the Chargers are poised to make a deep run.

McConkey acknowledged the importance of getting playoff experience last season, but now it’s time to stack playoff wins and make a run at the big one. He was a huge part of the Chargers’ offense in 2024. As a rookie, he racked up 82 catches, 1,149 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.

Now, Keenan Allen is back, Quentin Johnston looks like a new receiver, and they added rookie weapons in Omarion Hampton and Tre Harris. Herbert’s at the helm, looking like a top QB, and he’s got plenty of weapons now to take the Chargers to the next level.

The Chargers won’t see another divisional game until the end of November. The New York Giants are next up. Rookie Jaxson Dart is set to get his first NFL start, which puts the Chargers in a prime position to take advantage of Dart and the 0-3 Giants to move to 4-0 for the first time since 2002. That might bring up bad memories for fans, though, as they limped to the finish and missed the playoffs at 8-8.

The Chargers are sitting pretty, and McConkey has laid their cards on the table. They have their eyes set on the Super Bowl. It’s a long season, though, and the Chargers must keep this level of play up if they want to make their goals a reality.

They are one of the top teams to watch in 2025 and will have a target on their backs for the rest of the season after their hot start.
