Eagles Legend Jason Kelce’s Wife Kylie Reveals the ‘Toughest Part’ of NFL Training Camps

Kylie Kelce reveals the toughest part of the training camp for her and Jason Kelce during his days playing for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Balancing an elite football career with fatherhood presents unique challenges that few understand better than former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce. The retired Super Bowl champion welcomed three of his four daughters during his NFL career.

According to his wife, Kylie, the most demanding period for their family came during those intense summer training camps when Jason’s presence at home became nearly impossible.

Why Were Training Camps the Hardest Time for the Kelce Family?

Kylie opened up about this struggle during the latest episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, noting how “lovely” it’s been having Kelce home during training camp season since his retirement in early 2024. The contrast highlighted how grueling those summer months were for their family.

“The toughest part about training camp is just the amount of hours that the guys are committed to football,” she explained.

“All he does is go to sleep, get up, and do the exact same thing the next day. And then they would get one day off a week, and he would come home the night before, be home all day the next day, and then report back.”

The reality meant Jason missed the daily rhythms of family life that most parents take for granted. “He wasn’t home for dinner. He wasn’t home for breakfast,” Kylie revealed.

With Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, and Bennett, 2, all born during Jason’s playing career, Kylie had to get creative about maintaining those father-daughter connections.

Her solution became a regular ritual. “So in an effort for the girls to see Jason and to get to play with him and sort of enjoy some time, we would go to training camp probably once or twice a week,” she shared.

How Did Those Training Camp Moments Become Internet Gold?

Those family visits to Eagles practice created some of the most heartwarming viral moments in recent NFL history. Clips of the seven-time Pro Bowler playing with his daughters after grueling practice sessions regularly captured fans’ hearts across social media.

However, one particular video sparked unexpected controversy when Jason was spotted putting a “trash can” on one of his daughters during practice. Kylie quickly defended what some critics called questionable parenting, explaining the context that viewers missed.

“People were bothered by that because it was a trash can,” Kylie noted. “But what you don’t know is that at those practices, those trash cans are just used to store footballs. So it’s not gross. There wasn’t trash in the trash can prior to my children being in the trash can. So not that weird.”

Throughout Jason’s career, Kylie documented their training camp experiences and served as his unwavering support system through every challenge. The couple has continued to grow their family since Jason’s retirement, welcoming their fourth daughter, Finnley “Finn,” in March 2025.

After 10 years of marriage, they’re still going strong, now with the luxury of having Dad home during those once-challenging summer months.
