2-Time Super Bowl Champion Accuses Browns HC Kevin Stefanski of Disliking Shedeur Sanders

Kevin Stefanski gets criticized for his response to being asked if he's considering changing quarterbacks to Shedeur Sanders.

Shedeur Sanders has been awaiting a potential opportunity to take over as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. He currently backs up Dillon Gabriel, who has struggled to a 1-3 record so far.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski recently commented on the situation when asked about the idea of a quarterback change. His response resulted in a former Super Bowl champion calling him out for the way he’s handling it.

Kevin Stefanski called out for his stance on Shedeur Sanders

Stefanski was asked during a postgame press conference if he’s considering a quarterback change to Sanders following the Browns’ Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots. He essentially avoided the question with his vague response, which resulted LeSean McCoy accusing the head coach of disliking the rookie.

“He doesn’t like him. Every chance he gets, he shows it. He is scared if #12 goes out there and looks good, he might not look like he knows what he’s doing,” claimed McCoy.

Stefanski was asked by Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot why Sanders hasn’t received an opportunity play yet, despite their obvious struggles on offense. He neglected to give a clear response to the direct question.

“My focus is where we are right now. That’s not my focus,” stated Stefanski.

The Browns recently traded Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals shortly after naming Dillon Gabriel their starting quarterback. This elevated Sanders to the QB2 role after previously being their emergency third-string quarterback.

Gabriel has lost three of his four starts and was held without a touchdown in two of them. He also threw two interceptions against the Patriots last week and recorded fewer than 200 yards for the third time.

The Browns now have a 2-6 record overall, and their struggling offense has been a primary reason. They have a bye in Week 9, which would seem like the ideal time to make a quarterback change, but according to Stefanski, a potential change to Sanders is not what he’s focusing on right now.
