Kenyon Sadiq built his college reputation on athleticism. So when he stepped onto the field at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, it felt like the perfect stage to remind scouts exactly who he is. And he did. Because after he was done, he was no longer ‘another name’ on the draft boards.
Now, we are looking at an early first-rounder with a vertical threat who can out-jump safeties and outrun linebackers from Day 1.
Kenyon Sadiq Gets the Flowers for the Showing
Loud noise for the electric finish…sounds poetic. And it started the second Sadiq crossed the line. Indianapolis has seen freaky tight ends before, but this felt different.
From PFSN’s Ian Cummings, it sounded like Sadiq’s abilities are extraterrestrial. He said:
“Kenyon Sadiq has been TE1 all cycle, and he’s cementing his status at the NFL Combine. At 6’3”, 241 pounds, Sadiq logged a 4.39 40-yard dash, a 43.5” vertical, and an 11’1” broad jump. Those numbers reaffirm his standing as a truly superlative athlete, and on film, he has NFL-ready two-phase ability, too. He might not make it out of the Top 20.”
On Friday, the Oregon product put together one of the most absurd athletic profiles the position has ever seen. A 43.5-inch vertical. An 11-foot-plus broad jump. And then the track work: the 4.39-second 40-yard dash.
It’s officially the fastest ever recorded by a tight end. In a league obsessed with matchup nightmares, Sadiq just rewrote the testing scale.
Mike Garafolo captured the draft momentum shift in real time: “Kenyon Sadiq. Goodness. 4.4 for a guy who’s gonna have a rocket strapped to him in upcoming mock drafts.” Ian Rapoport kept it simple and effective: “Kenyon Sadiq was blazing.”
Warren Sharp didn’t need many words: “Kenyon Sadiq 4.40 40-yard dash. Fastest for any TE since 2006 at 6’3 and 245 pounds. Absolute freak!”

Meanwhile, Josina Anderson added the viral layer: “OMG: TE Kenyon Sadiq just ran a 4.40u on his 40 and said ‘Hi Mom’ right after. This, after smashing the record on the vertical. SADIQ THE FREAK.”

Even draft analysts joined the frenzy. NFL Draft Files posted: “Kenyon Sadiq with an OFFICIAL 4.39 40 YARD DASH The fastest EVER for a TE.”
But it was the stats that rubber-stamped Sadiq’s TE1 talks. Sharp later doubled down with context that made scouts blink: “This is an insane combine stat: 40-yard dash top speed: 23.2 mph for TE Kenyon Sadiq 23.2 mph for RB Jahmyr Gibbs. Gibbs at 199 lbs vs. Sadiq at 241 lbs. Both hit the SAME top speed in the 40.”

That comparison isn’t random. Jahmyr Gibbs is now a centerpiece for the Detroit Lions. Has been for three years now (since 2023). In 2025 alone, the 23-year-old totaled 1,839 yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns across 17 games, averaging nearly six yards per touch for his career while posting back-to-back seasons with at least 1,800 scrimmage yards and 18 scores.
That’s the challenge now. Tight end is violent work in the NFL. It demands blocking leverage, route nuance, durability, and consistency. Testing numbers pave the way… surely they have opened the door for Sadiq. But tape and consistent output on Sundays keep you there.
Sadiq handled Part One in historic fashion. Breezing past the 40 and doing everything right with the jumps. And after finishing last season 11th on the PFSN CFB Tight End Impact metrics, he’s already shown there’s substance in his rising stock.
