The “Tush Push” play has been one of the more significant topics of conversation in the NFL this offseason. It’s been hotly debated and fiercely defended.
After the play was recently voted to be upheld by the league, some are wondering if former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator and current New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore will use it this year. The Saints did vote in favor of keeping the play legal.

Kellen Moore Talks Tush Push
In an interview with the Saints’ website on May 22, Moore chatted about the play being allowed to continue and whether or not the Saints will use it. The first-time head coach mentioned how there was no proof backing up the injury concerns that many of the play’s detractors point to as the main reason for banning it.
“I know there was an injury component that was emphasized and a speed of play both, [but I] didn’t feel like there was much data or proof to say that was justifiable as we went through that process and so, I feel good,” Moore said. “I’m really happy that it didn’t go through that process (of eliminating the play). It’s just like any other play: It’s available to everyone, and we’ll see.”
As one of the key coaches involved in finding success with the play, it makes sense that Moore would be happy about it being allowed to continue. He did win a Super Bowl last year employing the play as offensive coordinator in Philadelphia.
The #Saints were one of the teams that voted against the ban of the Tush Push.
Head coach Kellen Moore said the injury component associated with it didn’t have the data to back it up, and said eliminating all pushing on offensive plays would be a bad idea.

The Tush Push has been almost indefensible for opposing teams, thanks in large part to the Eagles owning one of the best offensive lines in football, mixed with a quarterback (Jalen Hurts) who has massive leg strength.
Other teams have tried to run the play, but the results haven’t been the same, whereas the Eagles have been almost impossible to stop in short-yardage situations for years now.
It will be interesting to see if Moore decides to run the play or not, especially with a physically gifted player like Taysom Hill on his roster.
How Will the Saints’ Offense Operate?
Simply put, no one knows what the Saints are going to look like in 2025.
That is due to the fact that Moore is taking over as a first-time head coach at just 36 years of age, and veteran quarterback Derek Carr decided to announce his retirement from the game of football due to a shoulder injury.
Now, it looks as if the Saints are likely going to roll with either rookie Tyler Shough or young Spencer Rattler under center this season as they figure out the way forward.
That is why it makes sense that Moore will try to get tricky with some of his play-calls. Having Hill (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) take short-yardage snaps, along with Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara, could make plenty of sense. Plus, you can’t forget about explosive wide receivers like Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Brandin Cooks.
Again, no one knows what the Saints will look like on offense this season. They could surprise people in the NFC, seeing as they only have a couple of household names and a very creative, offensive-minded head coach calling the shots.
