KC Concepcion’s NFL Draft Potential

KC Concepcion was an instant sensation at NC State — and as an unheralded three-star recruit, no less. As a true freshman, he racked up 71 catches for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns, and also logged 41 carries for 320 yards, eclipsing 1,000 yards from scrimmage. It’s rare for such a young player to show such actionable role versatility and football intelligence, and that’s a core part of Concepcion’s game.

When the NC State offense regressed in 2024, however, Concepcion wasn’t immune. At times, he appeared to lack confidence, and it trickled down to his consistency as a catcher. Ultimately, a change of scenery was best for Concepcion. He transferred to Texas A&M, and he’s since not only regained his confidence, but morphed back into one of the most dynamic WRs on the collegiate stage.

In seven games thus far, Concepcion has 33 catches for 500 yards and seven touchdowns, and he’s also proven his value as a special teamer, housing a punt return against UTSA. At times, Concepcion has fallen behind the shadow of sophomore phenom Mario Craver, but per TruMedia, Concepcion still has a 30.6% on-field target share, and a near-50% target per route percentage in the red zone. That second number is particularly jarring, and it brings to light an important theme of Concepcion’s film: He’s a high-level, arguably elite separator.

As a route runner, Concepcion combines explosive, twitched-up, fleet-footed athleticism and hip fluidity with sharp angle IQ, spatial awareness, and manipulative instinct. He can be schemed targets in countless ways, and in 2025, his body control and hand-eye coordination — once viewed as question marks — have been undeniable strengths relative to his size. He’s beefed up to 190 pounds and has the play strength to scrape through arm tackles, he has the speed to stretch seams and generate big plays, and he has the quickness to contend outside against press.

CFB Week 9 Update

KC Concepcion caught three passes for 45 yards and a touchdown, and ran back a punt return for a TD, and still, that doesn’t adequately convey how dominant his showing against LSU was. Concepcion won against press coverage with his lightning-quick short-area mobility and vertical explosion, he worked back to the ball in cluttered catch situations and showed impressive instincts and proactivity, and he displayed size-defying play strength and prying contact balance on his return TD, while also using his speed, bend, and quickness to weave through crowds and get upfield. Concepcion is the ultimate offensive dynamo, with combined separation, RAC, and vertical utility, and he also has the football IQ and instincts of a seasoned veteran.

CFB Week 10 Update

Texas A&M was on a bye in Week 10, but the Aggies will return to action in Week 11 against the ranked Missouri Tigers. It’ll be a good test for all of Texas A&M’s draft-eligible talent, as Missouri is especially strong in the trenches.

CFB Week 11 Update

Concepcion carried on his successful 2025 season with a stellar outing against Missouri, taking in four catches for 84 yards and a touchdown. The score came courtesy of Concepcion’s blistering RAC acceleration, explosiveness, and vertical speed on a designed screen. It shouldn’t be lost in this that Concepcion is truly a complete three-level threat with rare football IQ at his size, but his dynamic RAC ability is part of what makes him special in a diverse WR class.

Concepcion did drop one pass that came his way in a contested situation over the middle of the field. When faced with imminent contact, he’s not always as consistent, but with a skill set tailored toward creating and capitalizing on space, Concepcion should be able to stay productive within his mold.

CFB Week 12 Update

Concepcion went through every phase of the hero’s journey in Week 12 against the South Carolina Gamecocks. He made an early impact in the first half, at one point beating fellow 2026 NFL Draft prospect Brandon Cisse in press with a smooth split release and swim combo, before making an incredible grab with a safety closing in. Ultimately, however, the Aggies fell behind, and were forced to play catch-up down the stretch.

As the Aggies fought to close the deficit, Concepcion dropped a wide-open TD throw off a slant. But he quickly rebounded and helped the Aggies regain their momentum. When given the chance to win over the middle again later on, he made a point to secure a bobbled pass with impending contact threats, and his impact persisted as a multi-level separator, high-level RAC threat, and punt returner.

At the end of the day, Concepcion came away with seven catches for 158 yards, and proved instrumental in Texas A&M’s comeback victory. In spite of his size, Concepcion’s three-level threat framework is incredibly complete, and on top of it all, he’s an elite explosive threat with vertical speed. He’s leapt over Chris Bell for the WR4 spot on my board, and is a clear first-round prospect.

Where Is Concepcion Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?

Concepcion currently holds the No. 36 overall rank among prospects, positioning him as a Day 2 prospect. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 29.1 as of November 19 reflects that he is typically being selected in the first round.

Interestingly, his ADP is higher than his rank, suggesting that users are targeting him more aggressively than his positional ranking might indicate.

Users controlling the Denver Broncos have been the team that selected Concepcion the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 3.8% of their picks across all seven rounds. Notably, 17.0% of the Denver Broncos’ first-round selections over that same period were used on Concepcion, underscoring users’ strong preference for him as a potential immediate-impact wide receiver.
